Pileated Woodpecker - Male
So I've seen this guy a few times over many hikes but never was close enough or had it anywhere near ground level, until today. Usually spotted at a distance and higher up. It quickly moved from tree to tree and staying around 10-20 feet off the ground on each tree. Lucky to have gotten what I did since apparently, they are not all that common around my region. Much larger than I thought.

Good ol' Hammertime. This whole area has fascinated me for more then a decade.
Built for the Burgomeister "Hard Suit" category of DA4 (should a general be found worthy to wield them; EDIT - will be supporting [https://www.flickr.com/photos/188534485@N03] ). All three meet the A&B criteria of fitting a complete minifig.
Left: "Clear Cutter" (green) - Jungle. Equipped with: flame-thrower, chainsaw, standard saw, single barrel shotgun, over-shoulder machine guns.
Middle: "Yeti" (white) - Sub-Zero. Equipped with: Sled-shield, ice-pick, grenade launcher, over-shoulder machine guns. Also larger surface area snow-boots.
Right: "Wrecking Ball" (grey) - Urban. Equipped with: spiked wrecking-ball flail, saber, grenade launcher, crowbar, over-shoulder machine guns.

Anyway, I found some inspiration for another Hammertime contest entry, and here we are.
From left to right: a centaur tyrant, an air elemental, a necromancer, a pyromancer, and some sort of storm monk.

When someone yells "STOP!", I never know if it's in the name of love, if it's Hammertime or if I should collaborate and listen...
I recently noticed a large crow size bird flying in the rain. The wings were soaked and the flashing white underwings stood out on the overcast day. I realized that what I was seeing was actually a male Pileated Woodpecker! I had heard pounding and calling over the last month. On this particular day, I discovered two flying in and out of a lightly wooded area where this still living Ash tree stands. I did see him strip pieces of bark and find beetle larvae. I'm hoping these two have a nest somewhere nearby and young ones will be in my future!

Here's a little Mongolian inspired fantasy figbarf, which I made recently for a contest by Hammertime. I have another big MOC to post sometime btw, but for now enjoy this please! I also need to say I got the idea for the little shrubs on the sides of the photo from Nujumetru, so props to him and his great figbarfs!
My revised entry for the Hammertime 3K contest. Not sure what category to enter it under, Fantasy or Space, maybe I'll just chuck it into Anything Goes :-)
From left:
Mavriva. A friendly hunter whom Estraven meets as he travels north to rescue Ai from his Labor Farm. He is depicted in his outdoor clothing.
Estraven, Prime Minister of Karhide. Helps Genly Ai learn about Gethenian culture and politics. I have shown him in understated informal attire.
King Argaven. "The “mad king” of Karhide. He is not particularly curious or intelligent." The king is dressed in full ceremonial garb.
Genly Ai, Terran envoy to Gethen. His mission is to ask if the Gethenians would be willing to join the interplanetary society known as the Ekumen. Genly struggles with the extremely cold climate of Gethen and so is usually covered in many layers of clothing.
Faxe the Foreteller. Faxe is something of a calmly-spoken mystic so I wanted an outfit for him that was elegant but simple.

The blacksmith shop of an abandoned railway works is one of my absolute favorite places. It offered scenes in a quality you rarely see anywhere else. The decaying machines combined with the growing ferns were just beatiful to photograph.
Yet another one for the Hammertime 3K contest. Not based on any specific people. The whole group was sparked initially by the mission control dude with the tie; he just screamed Apollo Person to me, so I had to make more. From left:

After tinkering around with some new weapon designs and developing some new beard sculpting techniques, I decided to add two more units to the Peak Gate Guard.

I saw this as I pulled into work this morning and it made me giggle. I'm not sure how long it has been there, but I only noticed it today.
Brings back all those memories of buying cassette singles (cuz I was po') back in the early 90's...
