The feather is sturdy gold plated brass that is a lovely patina and securely bonded to a gold plated steel hair comb, with industrial strength transparent glue.
The comb measures 1 3/4 Inches wide, 1 7/16mm long, .9mm thick.

This is an adjustable solid nickel silver hair barrette. This one is a nice medium size and should fit most hair types. This is a newer design that I think came out really nice. These barrettes are really great at holding hair. Many people have told me these are the only things that actually stay in their hair. These also work very well as shawl pins.
Each barrette I make is unique so the one you see here is the one you will receive.
*Measurements*
It measures with the stick a little under 5 1/4" (13.3 cm) long and a tad under 2" (5.1 cm) in the center.
*Hair Barrette instructions*
The barrette and the stick are each slightly bent so they will fit tightly together. Twist the stick to release it from the barrette and pull it out. To fasten, place the barrette on top of your hair and slide the stick through the barrette so the curve of the stick is down (like a shallow “u”) then twist the stick into place. You should hear it snap. If this is too tight, the barrette and stick are each adjustable. You can bend the barrette to have a slightly greater curve if needed.
