bloody hell. These ipods are a pain in the rear. I've not got the big disk to work with it *yet* but at least I've found out more about ipods - like PC and mac ipod (well the HD at least) are totally fooking different. Didn't say that anywhere on 'tinternet did it ? nooooo. bugger. Anway I do now know that all 4G (colour) ipods have a diagostics mode - reboot and when you see the apple hold down the menu and select buttons. This gives you loads of options including do a read/write test to the HD. Great me thinks. However when I plugged in the big disk this menu option was removed. I now suspect we need to look at (careful not to take the piss has it is fucking hard work to make this) the hd connector. Oh yes, and I was speaking shit about the usb not being good enough to let us format the disk suggs.
