Almost late June 2020, and the severe weather season has been just down right horrible for anything of photographic value this year. I mean this when I say Chase Locally. Due to Health issues, Truck maintenance issues, Equipment Issues, Camera Issues... With all that has been going on in my life, I've had to pick my chasing days and nights carefully this year. To be 100% Honest... I'm just happy I get to chase! Never let bad things set you back when the opportunity presents itself. That's my motto!
Luckily I had all my gear ready to go when when had strong severe thunderstorms develop in north central Nebraska and they were cresting southward down to south central Nebraska. My home turf.
This time of year is when everything changes weather wise here in south central Nebraska. Monsoons down in the southwest part of the US are firing and that usually means for us no storms. Not in 2020. Even though we had a late start to severe weather season here... mother nature hasn't let me down so far. She has remained active in my neck of the woods.
All the storms this day were outflow boundary generated storms. Meaning no tornadoes this day. Though I did capture 1 funnel, you'll see this in the video. Though with outflow dominate storms shelf clouds form and they can be more than picturesque. Its what I was hunting for this day! Oh did I get some and then some!

Merci beaucoup pour vos visites et commentaires ♥ www.bestioles.ca/liste-oiseaux.html Le Grand Pic est un oiseau piciforme qui porte bien son nom, car c'est effectivement le plus grand des Pics bois. Il mesure entre 40 et 50 cm de haut, et pèse entre 250 et 310 grammes environ.
Son dos et ses ailes sont noirs, ou brun foncé. Son menton est blanc et son bec est argenté. Son front et sa crête sont rouges et sa figure est ornée de bandes noires et blanches.
Ses yeux sont jaunes et ses pattes courtes sont presque noires. Son bec long, dur et tranchant lui sert à percer l'écorce des arbres. Il s'en sert comme d'un marteau et frappe à répétition sur la croute des troncs.
Sa langue est longue, munie de barbes et de salive gluante pour capturer les insectes. Ses griffes longues et pointues lui permettent de monter sur des surfaces verticales.
La femelle est similaire, mais n'a pas les moustaches rouges sous le bec, et sa face est donc seulement noire et blanche.
Les grands pics vivent dans les forêts mixtes, de grands arbres feuillus et de conifères. Il habite toute l'année le Canada, la Californie, le Texas et la Floride. Ce n'est pas un oiseau migrateur, et à la saison froide, il se déplace tout simplement un peut vers le Sud. Le Grand Pic est un oiseau insectivore qui creuse des trous assez grands dans le tronc des arbres pour y trouver des fourmis, ou autres insectes qui constituent son alimentation. Ces trous rendent service à d'autres oiseaux qui peuvent les utiliser. Le couple reste uni toute l'année, et les deux participent à la construction du nid, car ce sont des animaux ovipares. Après la reproduction, la femelle pond de 3 à 5 oeufs, que les deux parents couvent, de mai à juin. La mère couve pendant le jour et le père couve la nuit. L'incubation des oeufs dure 3 semaines. A l'âge d'un mois les petits sont prêts à quitter le nid, mais ils restent encore avec les parents pendant 3 mois, pour apprendre à se nourrir et se débrouiller seuls. La noche dota a la Mezquita Azul de una magia especial que todavía realza más su belleza. Me senté en un banco y planté el trípode con la cámara, cuando aún era de día —por supuesto, después de tomar un té—, dispuesto a ver cómo lentamente el cielo y los muros de la mezquita comenzaban a cambiar, mientras disfrutaba con las fotos que iba sacando. El sol se retiraba sin prisa, y los colores se transformaban con una delicadeza hipnótica. Poco a poco, empezaron a insinuarse suaves tonos dorados en los minaretes, al ir encendiéndose los focos que preparaban la escena.
Un rato después, el edificio entero resplandecía como un dibujo de luz dorada, recortado con nitidez sobre el cielo azul violáceo del anochecer.
De repente, algo cambió. Los focos dorados se apagaron sin aviso y fueron sustituidos por otros blancos, fríos, casi quirúrgicos. La mezquita se volvió entonces algo distinto: una visión extraña, fantasmal, como si flotara en una dimensión paralela.
No lo dudé un segundo y apreté rápido el disparador. Duró muy poco. Apenas unos segundos. Por suerte, algo más que los 30 segundos que duró la exposición de esta foto. Lo suficiente para atraparla, aunque fuera una sola vez.
Pensé entonces que quizá todo fuese una metáfora de esta ciudad que respira entre dos luces.

At night, the Blue Mosque takes on a special kind of magic that enhances its beauty even more. I sat on a bench and set up the tripod with my camera — it was still daylight, of course, and only after having a tea — ready to watch as the sky and the mosque's walls slowly began to change. I enjoyed every shot I took while the light shifted gently around me. The sun withdrew slowly, and the colors transformed with hypnotic delicacy. Bit by bit, soft golden tones began to appear on the minarets, as the lights that set the scene started to come on.
A little while later, the entire building shone like a sketch drawn in golden light, sharply outlined against the violet-blue sky of dusk.
Then suddenly, something changed. The golden lights went off without warning, replaced by others — white, cold, almost surgical. The mosque became something else entirely: a strange, ghostly vision, as if it were floating in a parallel dimension.
I didn’t hesitate — I pressed the shutter quickly. It lasted only a few seconds. Fortunately, just a bit longer than the 30 seconds the photo exposure required. Long enough to capture it, just once.
And I thought, maybe it was all a metaphor — of a city that breathes between two lights.
