Today we are visiting "The 7th wonder of the Modern World" - the Panama Canal. Specifically the visitor centre at Miraflores.

Series showing how to achieve an HDR image of a single negative.
Comprised of three scans of the same image: Left full image, scanned to show bottom of image correctly, blows the high lights. Centre scan, set to show the center of the image correctly. Right scanned to show top of ceiling correctly. Right combined final image.
Process is to overlay the three images in layers in CS3, in this case with the lightest on the bottom. The eraser was used in the middle layer (centre image) to expose the bottom section of the underlying layer, leaving centre and top intact. The same was repeated with the top layer, now removing with the eraser the bottom and the centre part. Note the feathered edges of the soft eraser (set at 25%, requiring repeated strokes, but giving more control.

Image taken with a Panon Widelux F7 (348809), loaded with Ferrania Imaging Color FG Plus 400 film. The film was commercially developed and scanned with an Epson Perfection V700, using Silverfast Negafix software.
