Street photography from London, England.

I had little spare time for any street shots while in London on assignment but I caught this at the back of The Waldorf Hilton near Covent Garden in February 2019. Oh, I wasn't staying there, I had to 'settle' for a 4* hotel instead. Enjoy!

Taken on my trip to Iceland in September 2018. This is the glacier lagoon at Svínafellsjökull in south east Iceland. Though much smaller than Jökulsárlón it is very beautiful and has a very different feel to it not least because there aren't crowds of people there. The impressive glacier tongue comes down between the mountains and these small icebergs break off and float in the lagoon. It is not that far from Jökulsárlón and I loved being at both places for different reasons.

But how he set – I know not –

The Falkirk Wheel, Falkirk, Scotland. This remarkable contrivance allows canal traffic to move between 2 very different levels without the use of conventional locks. The old, 11 lock system, which took nearly a day to traverse, was closed in the 1930s and this new version was opened in 2002. The top and bottom cradles each hold a boat and the water it floats in. The counter-balancing effect then uses very little electricity to turn the wheel allowing each cradle to move to/from the bottom to the other end.

A special sugar dish, beautifully crafted by Spode pottery.

From the days when your afternoon cup of tea was accompanied by an elegant sugar bowl with a lid! A modest teaspoon of sugar was the only acceptable quantity!

It was seen as a luxury item in my family long before war brought a national shortage! The idea of having more than one spoonful in your cup of tea lingered on.

Happy Bokeh Wednesday!

Sugar rationing in Britain, introduced during World War II in January 1940 and lasting until September 1953, was a strict, long-term policy designed to manage severe food shortages. Citizens were limited to approximately 8 ounces (225g) of sugar weekly, with sweets and chocolate rationed from 1942. This restriction significantly improved national health.

fun how the perception of lines work, just in a short distant the full frame of planks merges to a dot, but expand and it goes on.

In a quiet library, occupied only by seeing and pages of books written, no one knew the worst that could happen inside a mystery that nobody would know unravel, it would be forever marked in the pages of any book and forgotten with the time.

What wizards would do is to enchant the camera. In other words, they would make your old equipment 'upload' new and magical powers. And this is indeed what you need. Don't think that more processing power and more autofocus technology will do the trick. The magic of photography is of a different quality altogether. Fuji X-E2 plus Mitakon Speedmaster at F8.

How am I going to change the color of a wave. What can one desire if everything is horizon. What am I going to teach the sum of the wind. What can I object to a starry night with my yellow sail and my patched prow. Today I would like to embrace my submerged city., mouth of the corals, soul of the sponges. Hardness of the stones that are sometimes found, eyes of the starfish and the fish.

How am I going to change the color of a wave...
