Positioned around a mile and a half from where we were staying, Tarn Hows is a picturesque Tarn which is visited by over half a million visitors who walk around it.
Our visit this time was an eye opener. As we approached, Marc became terrified. Only a couple of years ago, I pushed Marc around this tarn in his wheelchair and we enjoyed the nature of the landscape. It was quite a push in his manual wheelchair - though it is advertised as accessible, in truth, motorised scooters or wheelchair are needed.
As we approached and reached this point, there is a sharp downhill stretch of road bending around a hidden curve. Marc's grip on the seat at the side of me tightened and his knuckles turned white. "stop, stop, stop" he screamed!
I pulled over, but he did not relax. I managed a quick photo out of the car window, but headed back the way we came, with the terror left behind.
What triggered this reaction to somewhere we had been previously remains unknown. I know his condition is worsening and maybe it was the journey making him travel sick, maybe his poor eyesight is affecting him in a greater way, maybe he was having a seizure, and absence, right at that moment which sent him into a panic, maybe ...
sometimes we never find out the cause of a reaction like this, but we have a photograph, and as we look back at it now, he can laugh at his memory of my stopping the car and turning around.
From here, we went back to the village, and had some Grasmere Gingerbread. After a calmer wheel-walk around the village. Calm returned.
Have a lovely day everyone :-))
HSS.... the macromonday theme for tomorrow, 11/16, is keyhole. Would love to use this but it might be a bit over the size parameters- haven’t measured it yet.

When I think of vanishing point there is only one place in Tulsa my mind would go, the old pedestrian bridge. I am so glad I took some time to get this shot how far to the vanishing point? 1,470 feet walkway the inside dimensions was something like 15 foot square. Constructed in 1905 and torn down in 2021, goes across the Arkansas River. The replacement bridge humps up going over the river and curves to the left so never get a shot like this.

How happily and tenderly your voice speaks to me! We do not question each other, we do not complain to each other, we often walk together through open doors. For where you are, things are open and bright; and the hours too walk on lighter feet here. For in darkness, time weighs more heavily on us than in the light. Here the words and word-shrines of all being open up before me: here all being wishes to become word, all becoming wishes to learn from me how to speak

We've been trying to catch this location in the "right mood" so to speak for some time. On this occasion we expected a more vibrant sunset and though that didn't happen I still like the subtlety of the colours and the way the cloud is almost an inverse of the shape of the hill.
There's no argument that vintage tractors have personality, and as for this one, well, look at that face! This old boy was seriously happy to see me. Seen in Mayo, Ireland.
I just migrated to the "the land of the free" and, is currently, the #1 COVID-19 infected country...
This piece would be my first official hand self portrait here. Notice how try to comfort my own hands and the way they are positioned. It may seem like I'm praying...but not really...
I want nothing more right now but for this pandemic to end so I can start a, not new, but a different life here--> "where (they say) all dreams come true"

Early Spring in the Lake District can be a challenge with very changeable weather. As I neared the top of the Coppermine Valley in grey sleety rain the clouds opened revealing Little How and Great How capped in a smattering of snow high above Levers Water. The waterfalls on the left are the cascades of the Levers falling down to the Coppermine Valley and eventually Coniston a couple of miles further down.
I continued up to the Lake before heading up to Coniston Old Man. I did manage a few shots of Levers Water, where the water levels were pretty low after the dry spell of weather we have had in March, before the weather really closed in and I eventually departed in search of better conditions in the Yorkshire Dales.
Glen Etive has to be one of the most gorgeous parts of Scotland, from rugged beauty and river rapids to the animals that roam wild here the whole place is just heaven on earth.

Nothing new. Nothing Original. Just a classic Lakeland vista.
On a stroll around the picturesque Tarn Hows with my partner and pooch yesterday, I couldn't resist getting my camera out at this iconic viewpoint. The autumnal colours were just glorious, enhanced by the contrasting sunlight and moody clouds. I captured 3 separate images and stitched them together to show the entirety of the tarn.
The tarn itself was once 3 separate bodies of water which, with the construction of a dam, were combined to create one larger artificial upland lake. It was once owned by Beatrix Potter, but is now managed by the National Trust. Although a popular tourist destination, the area still manages to retain a certain feeling of wildness, helped by the rugged and impressive surroundings.

CSX train M416-05 was popping out of the tunnel at Harper's Ferry and crossing the Potomac River after exiting Maryland.
Once landfall is made, the westbound would be in West Virginia. This daily manifest runs between Rocky Mount, North Carolina and terminates in Cumberland, Maryland.
A clear signal was waiting to beckon an eastbound that didn't arrive for several hours.
