Blue hour is at dusk when the sun is at a significant distance below the horizon and the residual, indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue hue.

This image was captured when there was very limited light..... the last 'flickr' of the evening.

I've been trying to get out and take advantage of the light with the sun starting to set earlier. I got lucky with this shot. This little bee was kind enough to fly right into my depth of field which was only 3cm deep at the aperture and focal length I shot with. I saw it enter the frame and just kept shooting in the hopes I might get one in focus. I didn't have any focus points active on that side of the frame and never could have changed them fast enough.

Bassano del Grappa is in Northern Italy’s Veneto region and lies at the foot of the Alps along the River Brenta.

The most notable attraction to see in Bassano del Grappa is the Ponte Vecchio, the covered wooden bridge that dates back to the 13th century.

Il sole ormai basso, canale Vena già in ombra, si accendono le prime luci, sui tavolini compaiono e scompaiono Cicchetti e Spritz. Che la sera abbia inizio.

This shot has been taken in Manarola during the blue hour, the temperature was around five degres and the waves were pretty high in the sea. The town is almost desert during winter, but always a beautiful subject to photograph.

. . . visiting the city, for us, always seems like rush hour. . . a good weekend to everyone. . .

Just a few minutes left until the sun disappears over Coote's Paradise as winter winds down

I went to the basement to look for a particular matchbox which I had in mind but then I came across these tiny matchsticks which I didn't even know existed. They are less than 3cm long and the little pot is maybe 1.8 cm high. I have no box for them so the pot will have to do. I combined the matches with other items that are just as tiny (a candelabra, a good book :) and a cup of something hot and comforting). Not that the weather calls for a hot drink at the moment, but it went with my theme :) I used Xmas wrapping as wallpaper. I found lots of good tiny things today, I need to get them out and use them. MM is perfect for it. I sacrificed one matchstick to see if it would burn and yes it definitely does. A surprisingly bright flame and the "stick" burned slow enough not to burn my fingers. I did not try to burn the candles :)

The sun setting on flowers and capturing them with its diffused light always lightens my mood. Happy Monday!

A good friend of mine gave some hint for a small elevated view point in Gdansk...so went there previous trip and find some nice angles into the city..have a good start into the new week. Thanks,

Udo.

Podere Baccoleno during the sunset, now one of the most photographed places in Tuscany.

We stayed down there for 8 days and every night above the cypress avenue / driveway between 20 and 50 photographers gathered to capture the evening spectacle in the picture. And of course I was there on some evenings;-))

Today I show my 1000th image in Flickr, time to say thank you for your loyalty, the many comments, favorites and image reviews. I am very pleased.
