Just another frame of this classic on home rails at an iconic northern New England locale.

Having traveled more than 25 miles and climbed 1400 ft in elevation the Conway Scenic Railroad's Mountaineer excursion has reached the top of Crawford Notch as they emerge from the deep cut at the Gateway along the famed former Maine Central Railroad Mountain Sub. The classic first generation power is nearing the end of their run just ahead at Crawford's depot where the power will run around before starting back down the mountain. CSRR owned GP7 573 led west trailed by F7 4268 (the ex MEC and B&M duo were built by EMD in Sep. 1950 and Oct. 1949 respectively). This geep is right at home here having led many a freight and passenger train over this route during the first 33 years of its life working for the Pine Tree Route.

To read more about my adventure this day and a bit more history of the 4268 check out the earlier caption with this shot: flic.kr/p/2nD1J3k

Prothonotary Warbler ~ (Protonotaria citrea)

A pair of Prothonotary Warblers tend to their young residing in a nesting cavity of what's left of an old tree. If you look closely, you can see mom has a beak full of food. I found this pair last month and was lucky to watch them come and go to the nesting cavity a few times. I am happy to report that their young have since fledged successfully and are following mom and dad around the swamp.

Thanks for Visiting!

The female osprey takes a moment to stretch her wings by taking a short flight from the nest to collect a twig. I think the "tatty" state of her feathers is just the result of being on the nest so long. This was in the fifth week after the eggs had hatched.

Taken on Tigertail Beach, Marco Island, Florida.

Even though it's been a month since my US trip ended I haven't posted any photos from home since, so it's time to fix that.

Here's a silhouette of the Melbourne CBD at sunset from late September.

I hope you enjoy seeing a glimpse into the home of Claude Monet. As you step inside, you can imagine this artist making many trips between his studio and the garden. On the walls are reproductions of his work that evoke the atmosphere during Monet's time. Many of the originals that were kept in this room are now seen at Musée Marmottan-Monet in Paris.

Not been out for 3 weeks , again due to a swollen knee , sometimes the size of St Paul's Cathedral , (Never been so Religious) . Struggling at the moment . Hope you all have seen and captured all you have wanted to see .

Great Egret flying into the sunset, heading home.

Birds always seem to know where they belong.

Sometimes it is just really nice to be home to enjoy the sunset.

When I look into his eyes, I don't see perfection. I don't see a love story that would necessarily be something people would watch on a big screen and dream about. I see someone who will fight for me and protect me and love me in spite of any of my short-comings and flaws. I see home. Wherever he is, that's my home...

I haven't been able to find any history on this old home in Madison County, Alabama. It certainly has been there a long while.

This Red Bellied Woodpecker is very much at home whereby he could easily skip out for a quick meal just outside his home sweet home !

Pushing on that trigger is like pulling magic into my very soul...Darrell.

Have a safe and happy day dear Flickr friends !

Home sweet home

“We leave something of ourselves behind when we leave a place, we stay there, even though we go away. And there are things in us that we can find again only by going back there.”

Ya know I’m partial to the moody dark photos with all the dust. Wonder what a therapist would make of that?

This is me at home, in one of my SL homes anyway, getting ready for a fun night out.

This room is the heart of this particular home, in its centre, ergo I decided that its contents should reflect the things that are dearest to my heart: books and music.

A young father teaches his wee daughter about the joys and beauty of our home, planet Earth. Or in this case, the Snoqualmie River. :-)
