Село Териберка - это старинное поморское становище в устье красивой семужьей реки с одноименным названием. Первые упоминания о становище Териберка относятся ориентировочно к 1523 году. Существует фламандская карта 1601 года, на которой, возможно впервые, отмечен топоним Tiribery. В 1870 году, в связи с имперским планом колонизации Мурмана, здесь основывается постоянное поселение. Вот такие строчки, были написаны в конце 19-го века: «Териберка мало уступает в промысловом отношении становищу Гаврилово, но превосходит его красотою своей местности и удобством своей гавани. Это потрясающее место контрастов!»
Во время переписи промысловых изб в 1608 году здесь было насчитано 6 изб — наравне с одним из трех крупнейших поселений Восточного Мурмана. В 1623 году селение подверглось нападению датской военной эскадры. Датский флот смог разбить ядрами наспех построенный блокгауз, отогнать русских вглубь материка, захватить припасы и уничтожить трофейные русские лодьи. В 1809 году во время англо-русской войны становище было полностью сожжено англичанами. К 1823 году становище было заново отстроено и считалось одним из лучших на Мурмане.
В начале XX века в Териберке были довольно развитые тресковые и акульи промыслы (занимались в основном норвежцы, имевшие здесь свою факторию и магазин), шла довольно активная торговля треской. В конце 20-х годов XX века был организован первый колхоз, имевший, кроме рыболовецких шняк, свою молочно-товарную ферму и оленье стадо. Перед Великой Отечественной войной за трудовые достижения работники МТВ и рыбаки колхоза несколько раз удостаивались чести быть направленными на ВДНХ в Москву, отмечались правительственными наградами и дипломами ВДНХ. Примерно в то же время началось строительство судоремонтных мастерских в населённом пункте Лодейном.
Наибольшего развития поселок Териберка достиг после окончания Великой Отечественной войны. В 1940-60 годах здесь было уже два рыболовецких колхоза, две молочно-товарные фермы, птицеферма, около 2000 голов оленей, ферма по разведению американской норки, два рыбозавода, мастерские и склады Беломорской базы Гослова. На полную мощность работали и развивались судоремонтные мастерские, велось активное строительство жилья и объектов соцкультбыта, имелся стадион, дом культуры, клубы судоремонтных мастерских и рыбозавода, пионерский клуб, две школы — начальная и восьмилетняя, интернат для детей из посёлков с побережья, больница, поликлиника, амбулатория. Поселок Териберка был районным центром, довольно быстро развивался и рос.
Упадок в Териберке начался в 60-х годах XX века, когда район перенесли в Североморск. Появились крупнотоннажные суда Мурманска, флота ушли в океан, прибрежный промысел потерял свое значение, а рыбопереработка, в связи с развитием рыбного порта и рыбокомбината в городе Мурманске, сошла на нет. В процессе «укрупнения» был ликвидирован колхоз «Мурманец» вместе со звероводческой фермой, распалась и Беломорская база Гослова, оленье стадо было передано в село Ловозеро, был ликвидирован рыбозавод, так как крупные суда не могли заходить в реку. В 1980-х годах при строительстве Териберских ГЭС было варварски уничтожено семужье стадо.
Сегодня в Териберке живет всего около 300 жителей. В советское время, особенно в послевоенные годы, тут был процветающий посёлок городского типа с населением 4,5 тысяч человек. Наибольшего упадка Териберка достигла В 90-е годы прошлого века.
*В Териберской бухте два населенных пункта, Лодейное и Териберка. Лодейное и Териберка два разных поселка, в 1970-1980-е годы они даже не соединялись дорогой между собой, потому что не было моста через речку с одноименным названием Териберка. Из Лодейного в Териберку ходила большая моторная лодка - Дора. Само старинное поморское село Териберка состояло из деревянных старых домов, а в Лодейном были каменные дома, почта, портнадзор и радиостанция принадлежащая Мурманрыбпрому.
In my hometown there is an old Hotel which was used as a hospital(Lazarett) during the 2nd World War. ..... Lately ,at a visit, I noticed this old sign at the wall....It´s the sign of the "Red Cross", if you can imagine!!!?? Times and weather have washed the white colour......Tiles have been replaced ....History!!!!Today " Johannes Itten " would have been enthusiastic about the colours:-)))).. I´m really flashed , anyway<3
We used today to dive into the history of the Danish West Coast visiting the Tirpitz Museum in Blavand as well as the open air museum of Nymindegab. today, this quaint ‘ghost town’ includes a Phillips 66 station, an old schoolhouse, feed store, diner, town hall, jail, several homes, and more. Two buildings that were important in (Lowell) Davis’ life are the blacksmith shop, where his great-grandfather once practiced his trade and the General Store, that was run by Lowell’s father and where he learned to sculpt and paint. Both buildings were moved from the original Red Oak townsite. Situated throughout the property are numerous Davis sculptures and old vehicles. Frozen in time, a walk through Red Oak II is a vivid stroll through the past.”

Antietam National Battlefield Park, Maryland.
This lovely Maryland countryside is quiet today, simple farmland near the small city of Sharpsburg. Gentle rolling hills, clusters of vibrant trees and fields of corn adorn the area to make for a generally beautiful landscape.
But on September 17th, 1862, this ground endured the single bloodiest day in United States military history, the Battle of Antietam, named after the creek that defined much of the battlefield. This tragic battle during the American Civil War cost a combined total of 22,717 dead, wounded, or missing, and their loss echoes here today in monuments, legacy fences, and key historic locations as part of the Antietam National Battlefield Park. The Park is well worth visiting and surprisingly beautiful, an interesting contrast to the battle that took place there.

West Montrose Covered Bridge, also known as the "Kissing Bridge", is a covered bridge in West Montrose, Ontario, within Waterloo Region and the last type of this style of bridge in Ontario. Built in 1880–1881 by John Bear, the bridge is still used by pedestrians, buggy traffic and vehicles weighing less than three tonnes over the Grand River.

The surviving stain glass windows in the Grace Episcopal Church in the small Coastal Town of Trenton, NC was built in the decade following the American Civil War. A prime attraction for tourists passing through on the way to the nearby beaches, the town has now purchased the old church and plans to repurpose it as the Town Hall.
