The Pond Held Reflections of the Nearby Woods

No wind was present to disturb the still waters

I didn't need to look above to see the clouds moving

across the blue skies

For colors cast across the waters mixed to tell a story

A harmony in the wildness of nature all around.

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning in Cuyahoga Valley National Park while walking around the Indigo Lake area.

This location was another of those spots I'd come across on Flickr and 500px where I'd seen other photographers capture images in this national park. While somewhat overcast, I was able to capture an image myself of those still waters on Indigo Lake. I later worked with some control points and color control points in Capture NX2 to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted. I added a Polarization and Sunshine CEP filter to give that little bit extra for the final image.

Hand held shot of the rare full moon on Christmas night.

The full moon is the last of the year, and is the first to occur on Christmas Day since 1977 - and there won't be another on Christmas day until 2034,

Hand held panning bulb shot of 10 hanging light bulbs on a string. I took this shot while i was on a boat pointing towards downtown Portland at dusk. The lights in the background are from the buildings

At the end of the day, almost every image I create has great meaning to me. But, I’m not in this just for myself. I desire to speak for those who feel they don’t have a voice, to empower those who choose not to speak yet, and to relate to people no matter how distant or different. I am an introvert, ridden with anxiety and fairly anti-social. Art is my way of connecting. It is my way of skipping the cheap talk to get to what matters most; to have conversations with people that mean something. To look back and know that I spent my time trying. Not necessarily succeeding, but who cares about that, anyway?

My life will not be defined by if I succeeded, but by if I tried. This is me trying, reaching out to you and showing you who I am; not the more superficial version of myself that you might bump into on the street, who says “how are you” but really wants to ask “what is your passion?”, but the one who dives straight into those questions without worry.

Are you trapped?

Are you being torn apart?

Are you being held together?

Those are the questions I desire to know answers to, so this is my art, asking those questions.

Got a really cool surprise yesterday: Matt Held used one of my picture to do a painting for his Facebook Portraits project

What has become an annual event that just keeps on keeping on, is the Auto fest Spring car Nats held in Shepparton. Here is a link to the event organisers page, autofest.com.au/.

The event has been going for over 30 years, and for many there is no better way to spend the weekend than with like-minded people, as the entrants burn rubber with an excess of horsepower, that is thankfully quite obscene : )

There was and is everything from the go to woe, handling events, drifting, and of cause burn outs! Burnouts bouncing of the rev limiting, literally hitting the redline burnouts. How much rubber do they burn, enough so I can smell it from my house nearly a mile away : ) PS the smoke signals might be cultural appropriation, so some one should bring along a Pontiac and make it officially ok : P

Jack Danniels www.jackdaniels.com/en-au has a bar, so Tennessee is represented, although in the main part, not much American iron turns up at the event in comparison to the Australian contingent and Japanese cars.

V8s are the flavour, although you might be surprised like I was this year to see a Honda S2000 turn up, a pleasant inclusion, with one of the all-time great 4 bangers in it.

Black snot is a thing, that is if you can handle the close quarters action! You might like to take some year plugs, even then for about mile you will still be able to hear the cars at it.

As a car enthusiast I enjoy the day, friendly people getting their thing on, and having a great time.

PS. Make sure you drink lots of water, and keep hydrated!

I wonder how many nuts and bolts it takes to hold together a city like New York?

On Thursday I held a team meeting after our 3 days of training. Was great to get the "gang" together, talk about what's on our minds, build some areas for focus over the next several months and generally get to know each other a bit more.

When I got home I was well and truly beat. Had been a pretty intense four days for me, right on the tail end of Austria as well so I was in need of some R&R. I took this photo of our key hole to sort of symbolize coming home. I might add this particular key hole to our flat is never used, it's just one of those pseudo-decorative ones that is just "there."

I played around with the crop on this, originally I liked the circle on a square but I think it looks a little better like this, sort of a rather strange looking face from afar! I wish I had taken this with a smaller aperture but it was done a few days ago in a hurry so oh well.

Mom's Cat Fashion,

she's a lil' overweight ...

18.5 lbs, and now on a diet...

Held the last Saturday of October the Cedar City, Utah Sheep Parade, sheep come out of the mountain pastures and parade down Main Street. It’s not just sheep but cattle, tractors, vintage cars, beauty queens and just about anybody that can ride a horse. It’s a real small town treat!

I find... sometimes it's easier to be myself...

Sometimes, I find, it's better to be Somebody ELsE....
