Granny is dying. But I believe she still has a few weeks left on the Earth by the way her hands are so warm and comforting still. She still has some strength left.

My Granny is a very inspirational woman. In the 1960s, she trained to become a pilot and got her wings. She was one of the very rare female airplane pilots in Alberta at the time. These hands inspire me greatly.

On January 25, 1554, was held in front of the hut covered with palm leaves of about ninety square meters - or, as described by Anchieta, ten by fourteen steps carnation (Portuguese carnation step was a linear measure) - Mass who officiated at the birth of the Jesuit college.

In 1556, Father Afonso Brás, precursor of Brazilian architecture, was responsible for the construction of rammed earth and a school attaches church. Quarrels between the settlers and the religious who defended the Indians, culminating in the expulsion of the Jesuits in place in 1640, where he would return only thirteen years later. In the second half of the seventeenth century, was erected the third building of rammed earth and stone.

The Courtyard of the College hosted the state government between the years 1765 and 1912, after allocation of the local state, serving as Palace of the Governors, due to the expulsion of the Jesuits from Portuguese lands, determined by the Marquis of Pombal in 1759 The former colonial house was completely disfigured by deep reforms during that period, especially in the last quarter of the nineteenth century.

There are fragments of a wall of 1585, remnant of the old Jesuit College in the current building, which has inspired the original seventeenth century, since the church was demolished in 1896 and the Palace of the Governors in 1953, with the opening set in the current format 1979 houses the museum Anchieta.

Hand held forest scene taken in Bergeijk pine forest as the sun peaked through the clouds and the trees and foliage. I stood so that I was just getting part of the sun through the trees and not the full force that would cause too much flare. I was after the star burst as you see here. Taken on my favourite 50mm F1.2 Canon lens. Not the typical lens photographers use for landscape by I like the focal length since it is so close to our own eyesight from a distance perspective. Not a bad portrait lens either :)

Taking photographs in any wood or forest can be challenging. The density and complexity of the overlapping of lines and shapes means that it is hard to create organisation from your composition. That is essentially what composition is to create order within your frame. Our eye does it naturally because its attached to a brain that makes selection decisions. The camera just takes in everything. Like all photographs light is so important and none more so than in a wood or forest.

Held together with duct tape, these books resovled many disputes (except for one of the more competitive sibs who would just tear the page out if it didn't agree).

Going out for some photon capturing at night, but you forgot your tripod? No problem. Shoot anyway.

Hand-held, slow shutter speed shots can be cool. And you just might catch a pic of a woman shooting lasers out her butt.

Held at an amusement park called Frontier City, on the northeast edge of Oklahoma City, the pow wow featured a variety of dances and dancers. I was struck by the intensity of this woman as she waited for her time to dance. The image is from an old Kodachrome slide that has faded over the years.

The Detroit Public Library is the second largest library system in the U.S. state of Michigan by volumes held (after the University of Michigan Library) and is the 21st largest library system (and the fourth-largest public library system) in the United States.[2] It is composed of the Main Library on Woodward Avenue, which houses the library's administration offices, and 23 branch locations across the city. The Main Library is part of Detroit's Cultural Center Historic District listed in the National Register of Historic Places adjacent to Wayne State University campus and across from the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Designed by Cass Gilbert, the Detroit Public Library was constructed with Vermont marble and serpentine Italian marble trim in an Italian Renaissance style. His son, Cass Gilbert, Jr. was a partner with Francis J. Keally in the design of the library's additional wings added in 1963. Among his other buildings, Cass Gilbert designed the United States Supreme Court Building in Washington, DC, the Minnesota State Capitol and the Woolworth Building in New York Cit

Held at Western Ave for over 12 hours due to a train derailment in Aurora, Illinois, NS SD40-2 3380 leads the way of an oil train as it waits for a fresh BNSF crew to deliver the train to the Dakotas.

Originally, NS 8103, the Norfolk and Western HU led the train however, NS was burl enough to put the superior SD40-2 on point.
