I had two HDDs fail simultaneously a few weeks ago. Fortunately, I had recently bought a Drobo so no data was lost but I needed to replace the drives and start with a fresh OS install.

The silver lining was that I got to have a play with one of the drives. I used a long exposure to burn in the image that was being displayed on my monitor (The red 1's and 0's) which was reflected in the HDD platter. During the 30 second exposure I manually fired a 580EXII, at 1/8 power in a Lumiquest Softbox III, a couple of times from camera left and a few times from camera right. The flash was gelled blue to contrast against the red image from the monitor.
