African Hawk Eagle - Gauntlet Bird of Prey, Knutsford, Cheshire.

Attractive chunky hawk of marshes and wetlands. Usually seen perched quietly near water, waiting to swoop down and snatch fish or frogs. Adult is distinctive, with mostly orange plumage and a whitish head (black collar is often hard to see). Immature is brownish overall, duller than the adult, but with a similar pattern. Note rather pale, dull pinkish legs and feet (yellow or orange on most other hawks). In flight looks very broad winged and short tailed.

Parabuteo unicinctus

Red-shouldered Hawk in snowstorm. As the old saying goes, “bad weather makes good photos”.

The red-shouldered hawk (Buteo lineatus) is a medium-sized hawk. Its breeding range spans eastern North America and along the coast of California and northern to northeastern-central Mexico. Red-shouldered hawks are permanent residents throughout most of their range, though northern birds do migrate, mostly to central Mexico. The main conservation threat to the widespread species is deforestation.

It swept right by the feeders and landed in this tree overhead.

I think it's a Cooper's Hawk based upon the teardrop markings on the front. Accipiter cooperii?

I was watching this hawk as it sat on a low branch in a pine tree. It was pretty far away from me but then It took off and landed on the ground about twenty feet in front of me. I watched it until it disappeared in the thick brush and then flew away with a lizard in its talons.

Looks like it is going to fly except that he had fallen asleep and lost its balance

Unusual garden visitor.

When in flight these really do resemble bees. Seen by some old flooded gravel pits near to Seiches-sur-Loir, France.

Tough to escape this lens.

This Buteo nests on cliff ledges in the tundra region of North America. It feeds mainly on small rodents and will often hover while seeking prey. According to the Breeding Atlas of Birds of Alberta, its nesting range in this continent extends from Alaska to Newfoundland. It winters between California and Virginia and sometimes further south.

This individual has appeared at the Alberta Government Grain Terminal for the past three days. It has a full crop in this image. It is likely finding rodents there.

Coopers Hawk hanging around at the outskirt of my backyard trying to eat-up all my birds! He has been a nuisance for the past two days and the bird activity at the feeders has diminished considerably with him around.

Spotted in a tree on a cloudy, misty morning southeast of Edmonton, Alberta. Looks to be a juvenile...maybe a Merlin? Help please
