This lighthouse is on Chantry Island in Lake Huron. The island was designated a Migratory Bird Sanctuary in 1957. Only one company has a permit to take give tours to the island in the summer. No one else is permitted on the island. So it is truly a safe haven for many birds. I have heard that it actual smells bad on the island because there are so many birds there who stop over. I love the design of this lighthouse.
