The historical village of Piódão is reminiscent of a crib because of the harmonious way in which its houses are arranged in the form of an amphitheatre. At night, when the village´s lights are turned on, this picture is particularly magnificent.

Nepenthes, also called tropical pitcher plant or monkey cup,
The pitcher plant is a type of plant that eats insects, also called a carnivorous plant. They are rare and unique. Typical plants consume nutrients from the soil, but carnivorous plants are found in nutrient-poor soil. They get their nutrition from insects they "catch," after converting them into a form they can digest or absorb.
The pitcher plant is a carnivorous type of plant that includes several species. It attracts insects to it using the scents of nectar and already-captured dead insects, and once inside, insects cannot escape and drown in a pool of water at the bottom. Instead of getting nutrients from the soil, the pitcher plant uses enzymes to digest the insects for its nutrition. It is located along the east coast of North America, in bogs and other wet locations with acidic soil.
Carnivorous plants have a variety of methods to get prey: pitfall traps (like the pitcher plant), snap traps (like venus flytraps) and flypaper traps (like sundews) are just a few. In North America there are 10 known species in the genus Sarracenia, the pitcher plants. Sarracenia purpurea is probably the most common.
According to the International Carnivorous Plant Society, pitcher plants of the genus Sarracenia are located in the eastern United States, from the southeast and along the coastline up through British Columbia.
Pitcher plants are mostly found in bogs, often in the wettest sections. Although they don't require acidic soil, they are well-adapted to nutrient-poor and acidic dirt. They live in areas that are prone to fires, and can survive fire under some circumstances.
Pitcher plants resemble their name: they look like pitchers. Inside the elongated structure is a pool of water. Decaying insects that have been trapped inside, along with nectar from the "lid," attract flies, beetles, butterflies and other insects to the plant. The plant's flowers are the color of raw meat, which further serves to attract flies.
Once inside, many insects find it difficult to exit the structure, so they eventually drown in the liquid. The interior walls are waxy and slippery, and there are hairs toward the top that aid in keeping prey trapped. The plant's enzymes digest the meal and the plant is then able to absorb the nutrients.
While pitcher plants are popular houseplants, it is not a good idea to harvest them from the wild because some species have become extinct this way. Instead, obtain them through a nursery. They are best-suited to bog gardens and indoor terrariums, and they require sunlight and mildly acidic soil.
Some insects and animals live harmoniously with pitcher plants. Some predators, like spiders, use the lid to hide under, and some insect larvae, like mosquitoes, live inside the pitcher plant itself. Ants that die inside the plant are used for their decaying scent to attract other prey. Sometimes small frogs will hide in pitcher plants, eating flies that are attracted to the plant.

With melancholy, ghostly beauty—old,
And sorrowful, and weary—yet so fair,
So like a queen still, with her royal robes,
Full of harmonious colour, rent and worn!”

In Serra do Caparaó, as expected in mountain areas, the vegetation changes gradually, according to the altitude. The Atlantic forest reigns in the lower parts of the Park — beautiful, it creates an immense green carpet, which protects the slopes. Angicos, lent trees, palm trees, jequitibás and several other species, exclusive to this ecosystem, mix in a harmonious confusion. With altitude, the landscape gives way to the formation of fields: the higher the location, the more rocky vegetation is distributed over the rocks. In the Minas Gerais part of the Park, the vegetation is a little drier, as it is not influenced by sea winds.
The tropical rain forest (Atlantic forest) goes up to about 1,800 meters; from 1,800 to 2,400 meters, are the altitude fields, with shrub formations next to the tropical rain forest, in which the flora is formed mainly by grasses — such as canes, bromeliads, mosses and orchids, in addition to cinnamon-de-ema and evergreens. cheers. Above 2,400 meters, there are clean fields. There are stony soils and species adapted to intense cold, frost and ice crust. On the slopes of Espírito Santo, the Atlantic Forest predominates.
It is, therefore, a very important Park for the preservation of Brazilian biodiversity, mainly because it is a region where the Atlantic Forest predominates, with many centenary trees. It also preserves an extensive water network, with several springs and, due to the steep slope, streams, waterfalls, lakes and natural pools with pure and crystalline waters. In addition, it protects endemic species of fauna and flora. Among the population of animals, specimens threatened with extinction can be found, such as the jaguar, the ocelot, the Moorish cat, the jacutinga, the harpy eagle, the tapir and the macuco.
Also noteworthy are the mono-carvoeiro, the maned wolf and the pampas deer. Other important animals are the astute wild dogs, the capuchin monkey and the raccoon, which takes its name from the hairless hand that leaves footprints similar to those of a child. In addition to more than thousands of species of insects and reptiles and countless amphibians. Still in the region, there is a large but friendly species that can, with great luck, be found: the endangered muriqui — the largest monkey in the Americas. Of birds, more than 300 species are known. Tangarás, tanagers, orange thrushes, toucans, seriema, hawk, saracura, jacu and parrot adorn the sky in high or low flights.
Between ups and downs, there is also no lack of water. The Park's drainage network is characterized by perennial small and medium-sized rivers. Vale Verde, for example, is formed by the Caparaó River and surrounded by a beautiful forest. Located close to the administrative headquarters, the Valley comprises the lowest areas of the Park, with less than 1,000 meters of altitude. The course of the river between the rocks forms small waterfalls and wells that create natural pools.

On a previous post of Cape Espichel - “Gateway To Heaven” (www.flickr.com/photos/142581467@N05/49885571788/in/datepo...) I’ve presented a view of the Nossa Senhora do Cabo Church, namely of its façade and the lateral accommodation wings.
This view here is taken from the other side (after crossing the “magic gate” mentioned in that post), on the area immediately preceding the sea (on my back as I was taking this shot) that was also the subject of a previous post here covering the nearby lighthouse (www.flickr.com/photos/142581467@N05/49912818718/in/datepo...).
The buildings here are simple but beautiful and blend harmoniously with the raw and wild, desolate place, where giant waves crash against sheer, towering cliffs. Whom could ask for a more inspiring view?
From the 13th century onwards this spot has been a place of pilgrimage. Legend tells that Virgin Mary was seen there, riding a giant mule. The church – “Nossa Senhora do Cabo Church” (Our Lady of the Cape, protectress of fishermen) – was built in 1701 and is worth a visit, to admire the ornately finished interior, beautifully painted ceiling and experience the tranquillity of the place.

I also decorated this rose with a few water drops (this time with a few more). I know that wouldn't have been necessary because she looks beautiful even without it, which you will be able to judge for yourself in a week.
But I really wanted that, because I love this liveliness and freshness that comes from the water drops.
I wish you just as lively, fresh and harmonious, your start into the week.

This harmonious scene was disrupted when a man appeared on the beach and unintentionally startled the ducks. See series below.
The aptly named Harlequin Duck is one of the most spectacular species of waterfowl in North America, not only for the male’s striking plumage but for the dramatic landscapes that the duck calls home. The blue, chestnut, and white males, along with the grayish females, breed mainly along whitewater rivers and winter on rocky windswept coasts. Their lifestyle is rough on their bodies, and many Harlequin Ducks endure broken bones from a lifetime of being tossed around in the rough water. www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Harlequin_Duck/overview
Nikon D500, Sigma 60-600mm Sports lens, 600mm, f/8, 1/800, ISO 280. Drake and hen. Took the usual harmonious side by side duck shots, but decided to post one a bit different with a bit of dynamic tension as they passed each other heading for opposite sides of the frame. Liked the added bonus with the actual ring showing on the male during a behavioral neck-stretched display. View Large.

For surfers -- including myself, as I often travel there from my home surf base at North Stradbroke Island for variety -- surfing is natural, beautiful, exciting, harmonious, and fun, and often, 'heavenly'.

Cats are everywhere in Morocco. They live harmoniously with humans, but rather than pets, they are neighbors. many of them are associated with a particular shop or business. People often feed them, but they do their part by keeping the neighborhood free of pests. They appear in a huge variety of colors and patterns, but there are more ginger, calico, and tortoiseshell cats here than in many other places where cats have the run of the place. In Islam, cats are appreciated and considered clean; they are welcome in homes, shops, and even mosques.
Britzer Garten
Water is a formative element of the Britzer Garten. The ten-hectare lake, surrounded by a hilly landscape, forms its calm heart. Nearby are three smaller lakes, and slender streams and waterfalls traverse the park. In many parts of the lake area the vegetation, including bushes, shrubs and meadows, continues down to the banks and into the water. An interplay of space and small details, light and shade, hill and valley, lakes, springs and brooks gives the interior of the park its characteristic aesthetic. Its many garden attractions and special gardens blend harmoniously into the park landscape.
