The Pocklington end of the Pocklington to Melbourne Canal in East Yorkshire, UK. The canal is more navigable from the Melbourne end, near York and there is just a short stretch of water here before it gives way to weed and reed for a good distance before opening up to free flowing water. This was taken on a late afternoon stroll along the canal path back in March and I was taken by the beautiful willow tree reflected in the canal. It was shot on expired film (Kodak Tmax 100 ASA b&w neg., process before 02 1998!) using a Nikon F301 35mm SLR, with a Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 AI super-wideangle manual focus lens and I used an orange filter to enhance contrast in the sky, as well as helping the willow branches to stand out nicely. The film was hand processed using Ilfotec-DDX developer at native 100 ASA and I used some excellent Ilfotol rinse aid in the final wash, leaving virtually no watermarks or dust on the negatives to have to spot out after digitisation. I used a Plustek 8200Ai film scanner to digitise the negs to DNG raw files and Capture One Pro 23 to do the post processing.
