Steve went down to the pumphouse to take photos, while we waited up on the dike.
We do a lot of handing off these days to save Molly the wear and tear of extra steps.
The shaking, the involuntary reactions, the body memories, the re-enacting, the truth, the trembling, the awfulness, the movement, the pain, the tension, the stillness, the weakness, the experiences, the terror, the chill of coldness, the feelings that can’t be expressed through words, the insight, the story, the re-telling, the fight, the fear, the sharing, the learning, the collapse, the strength, the working to soften, the numbness, the pushing away, the holding on, the pleading, the need, the scars, the healing, the self-inflicted physical harm, the gentleness, the clutching, the harming, the sadness, the intense struggle, the hope, the devastation, the clenching, the fighting for life, the hurting, the letting go, the confusion, the inexpressible, the warmth of connection, the ongoing battle…
…the varied, complex feelings, actions and elements contained within my hands after somehow living through the unsurvivable, trying to stay alive and working so hard at the healing, recovery, learning and growing process. The imprint of unspeakable trauma within my body, mind and spirit has even had intense effects upon my hands, their feelings and actions. As a part of the healing process I’ve noticed a natural pull and a necessity in focusing on my hands in various ways (photography is one way), as if this is an important part of the process and vital to my survival. It seems there is so much to observe, learn and notice in my hand(s).
This is a screenshot of my phone’s camera roll after several moments spent using Hipstamatic to capture images of my left hand (this hand often seems to be extra active in moments related to re-experiencing past trauma in the present and the ongoing, present-moment effects of trauma, though both of my hands are intensely affected). Some of the images captured the tension held in my hand, some showed the trembling and shaking through motion blur and some were more relaxed and calm.

Can greylag geese be white?
It can be white, completely gray (like the wild form), or somewhere in-between.
Are greylag geese native to UK?
There are two subspecies of Greylag Goose recognised: Western Greylag A. a. anser from Iceland, and north and central Europe; wintering from Scotland, south to northern Africa and east to Iran.
The greylag goose is a large, bulky, goose with a big head, and the largest of the grey goose species. It was one of the first species of animals to be domesticated in Ancient Egypt about 3000 years ago and is a typical farmyard goose. The domestic breed is known as A. a. domesticus and can interbreed with Anser anser. Many birds seen in the UK outside of the winter months are re-colonised from domestic populations and are often semi-tame. It is seen as a pest due to overgrazing of agricultural crops and is listed in Schedule 2 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act, meaning it can be killed or taken outside of the close season.

Portofino has a history buried in myth. The Romans claimed to have founded the town and named it Portus Delphini, or Port of Dolphins, because of the large number that lived in the Tigullian Gulf. Others say it was owned by the Benedictines from the nearby Abbey of San Fruttuoso, and passed into the hands of the Republic of Genoa in 1414.
Whatever the true history, Portofino's natural harbor was originally a base for Genoas merchants and for sailing ships seeking a landing place and refuge. Its proximity to the sea was also of key importance to its inhabitants who based their livelihood on fishing.
Portofino can be reached by ferry from Santa Margherita Ligure, Rapallo, Camogli, Cinque Terre and Genoa. The closest train station is in Santa Margherita Ligure, where there's a bus to Portofino from the station. In summer it's usually very crowded and driving and parking can be difficult.

Portofino became famous in the 1950s with the song "Love In Portofino" which was written by Leo Chiosso and composed by Fred Buscaglione, and released on 12 May 1958. Fred Buscaglione was also the first singer to perform it
