For Macro Mondays
Subject: Macro Textures

If you run your fingers across the labeling, you can feel the texture. Every once in a while, I indulge in a mocha frappucchino from Starbucks. A lot of calories, but so delicious. HMM ! !
Macro Mondays-Guilty Pleasure
I was told, by my Internist years ago not to eat cheese...ya right...I still eat it but not a lot. I love the stuff!!!
One guilty pleasure is the time I spend on my gardens and even more than that is the time I spend photographing them each year. A new guilty pleasure is a macro lens for my iPhone. I was having a hard time getting a decent shot because I can't hold the phone still enough. Then I discovered I could get an adapter so I can use it with a tripod including my little Joby tripod. So, now I can start playing with it. This is my first decent shot.
Bogart had himself an absolutely delicious pre-Easter treat. Quite decadent, really. After all, it was the first time (and Kevin hopes the last time) that he enjoyed a New York strip steak. A full 14 ounces or so. Raw. Yep, right off the counter. Yep, the puppy who can reach anything on the counter without difficulty is truly innocent. After all, Magnus was outside. And no feline, in spite of their desires, would be able to down an entire steak in a matter of the minute or two the steak was left unattended. But, being the thoughtful dog he is, Bogart chose to leave the second steak--untouched--for Kevin. See how sweet he is?
BTW, this look really is objecting to my "wait" command after I tossed a treat. How dare I.

Lindsey and I have definitely been obsessed over Baby since Saturday. I took him back to the Vet today for a recheck. He got more fluids, a B12 shot, and an appetite stimulant. He has perked up a bit and has eaten several times today. If he continues to eat tomorrow, I think the worse may be over, and the upper respiratory infection will just continue to run it’s course.
This week in SSC:
"Guilty Pleasures"
It's always a guilty pleasure to take photos of my dolls. This beautiful girl is from my 1960's collection of vintage Barbie dolls.
...and for Sight and Sound:
Seal from "Seal IV" (2003)
When all the fingers point your way, you can only assume one thing--you're guilty. It doesn't matter what of--when it comes to guilt most people can effortlessly fill in the blanks. I've always found it better to go for remorse.
Image imagined in MidJourney AI and finished with Topaz Studio and Lightroom Classic.
midnight snack (Talenti) while watching “Bones” reruns….
Btb, the blue tinge is my clock- of course I’d have a clock with blue numbers!!
A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "guilty pleasure". In my case a small glass of liqueur with some high cocoa chocolate.
Macro Mondays, Theme "Guilty Pleasure"
Difficult choice... But may be, sneaking after lunch to get more speculoos than the kids is the one I feel more guilt about! But after all, THEY mustn't eat that much suggar ! ;-)
Calvados, the soil , air and apples of Normandy. The pleasure is real, the guilt not so much! The glass is two inches high.
Nelson has been practising on a lot of different facial expressions lately.
This one is the guilty face....
More undercover action...well not really action, just a slightly guilty expression from Shakespeare. He was just taking a quick breather from a game we were playing. When he gives me this look I often wonder damage I will find around the house :o)
Thought I would be very random today and a take a mini break before I upload some more Sunflower images.
He did not kill the bird, to say the truth. It fly to the room through the open window and kill it self by breack to the window glass trying to run from assault cat. Cat show a real sorry because he want just to play.
A guilty pleasure of mine is pretending that the Loch Ness monster is real, green and part cat....my daughter created this drawing for me on the cardboard box that contained my birthday gifts from her...tea, chocolate and a Loch Ness monster tote bag and catnip toy....she feeds my guilty pleasures...this drawing was the best gift!
I frequently think I don't need another Yellow Robin shot, then another willing subject flutters into view and my fevered finger heads for the shutter button! You've got to agree - they are a delight.
Eating away my beautiful rose. She ( The June Beetle ) is guilty to me, pleasure to her. A guilty pleasure. HMM !!!
Vogelsang IP
The former Nazi “Ordensburg” Vogelsang is not only one of the largest constructions of National Socialism, but also an expression of its arrogance and contempt for mankind. Through the military use as "Camp Vogelsang" after the Second World War, the location also reflects the path from the "Cold War" to the Europe of today. Since 2006, a new location has been developing here: Vogelsang IP as an "international place" for tolerance, diversity and peaceful coexistence. The lessons from history are seen as both a duty and an opportunity. Appreciation, dialogue and openness are attitudes to which all facilities at the location are dedicated.
The permanent exhibition at Vogelsang IP focuses on the young men who were selected to be moulded into a future leadership elite of the National Socialist regime. The example of Vogelsang demonstrates the large extent to which architecture was used to document power and control of the Party.
The Ordensburgen were always both training centres and stages for the self-projection of the NSDAP leaders. At the same time, they were characterized by an air of incompleteness and haste: many things appeared to be improvised and driven by restlessness. This applies above all for the educational curricula of the courses, which were constantly changed and criticised within the Party.
Nevertheless, the Ordensjunker, (knights of the Order), as they called themselves, were presented to the German people as the new party elite. Many of them actually felt as if they were just that. With their entry into the Ordensburgen they believed that they had found a way to achieve social advancement and a professional career. The male association into which they were accepted promised them safety and protection and the comradeship of like-minded men.
Their minds were ideologically moulded by lectures and seminars but also by physical training with military drills and many kinds of sports. Particularly in the courses on “racial studies”, the image of their alleged superiority was constantly reinforced. A National Socialist substitute religion with rites and solemn ceremonies helped the Ordensjunker believe that they were participating in the creation of a “new race” of the future.
With this ideological background, the men of the Ordensburgen initially went as soldiers into a war which was, particularly in the east, a war of racial extermination. Several hundred of them were deployed to Poland, the Baltic States, Belarus and the Ukraine like modern colonisers. Many of them were involved in the National Socialist crimes in these regions. It took a very long time before post-war society and ultimately the judicial system began to take an interest in individual perpetrators.
At the conclusion of the exhibition, questions remain that deliberately reach beyond the history of National Socialism: What would we have thought ourselves? How would we have acted had we been alive in a similar time and given a similar task? Are there any comparable situations in the today’s world? What do democracy and plurality mean to us in our society today?
During lockdown, along with many people, I have been experimenting with making my own bread.
My first allegedly foolproof bread actually tasted nice but would have been useful as building material. Not to be deterred, I moved onto sourdough as I do love that. I know , I know, it’s difficult. My starter did not work or at least so I thought, so I threw it away. I realise now that it was probably fine. It had taken 8 days of caring and feeding so quite an investment. I was determined not to let that be a set back, but I know it’s not guaranteed. Not to be deterred I did a lot , a lot, of reading and studying and I made another starter . I knew a little more about what to expect at least. So I was very impressed with loaf number 1. The outside was great, the inside was rubbery. I toasted it as breadcrumbs and it was therefore not wasted. . However, I’m now making a weekly loaf and I’m no expert but things are improving. My learning will continue and I’m experimenting. Today’s loaves number 6 and 7 from this morning, shown here, were two such experiments, two larger quantities, different proving, different baking, different outcomes.
I’m learning and my pleasure is as much the learning as the eating.
eyyyyyyy i know the cropping is a bit rubbish, i didnt realise my feet werent in it until i had packed up :/
