Taken tonight (May 19th, 2012) in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver. I love the warm light from the church and how it compliments the blue of the sunset sky. Venus and the fellow star (planet?) add the perfect finishing touch.

After the reindeer sleigh ride we were told about the reindeer by the bloke on the left, the woman on the right was our guide Inge and unfortunately I didn't get the name of the guide in the middle.

This is Kong, my tour guide. I hired him for one day. If you need a guide around the Angkorian temples, he's very good and knowledgeable. His number in Cambodia is (855)12-790-325. Kong is Chinese-Cambodian, but like many Chinese-Cambodians does not speak much Chinese. He told me that his name in Khmer means "Still Alive." At 25 years old, he was born right after the Khmer Rouge was ousted from the capital, so... I'd say that's not a bad name to give a child at that time...

Join us as we spend the weekend onboard a DFDS Ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam on an Amsterdam Mini Cruise.
Watch the full video of the trip here: youtu.be/HzDrc_kiC58
We spend three days on a return trip from Newcastle to Amsterdam and in this video we do a full tour of the ship so you know what to expect if you plan on taking this trip in the future.
We set sail on DFDS's Kings Seaways from North Shields (near Newcastle). After checking into our room we then went to the top deck to view our departure.
We then go for a full tour of the ship and visit the bars, shops, arcade, night club, wildlife observation centre, cafe, etc.
We spend all evening looking around and then have a picnic in our room instead of going to the buffet restaurant.
We have an inside room with 4 beds (2 bunk beds).
The next morning the sea is rough and we feel a bit sick but still go for breakfast which was included in our package.
We then arrive at Amsterdam (IJmuiden Ferry Terminal) we get a transfer into the city where we spend the next few hours.
We are dropped off near Amsterdam Central Station and walk into the centre of the city. First we get some Frites (fries) to eat followed by some ice cream.
Our first attraction is the RijksMuseum. The Rijksmuseum is the national museum of the Netherlands and is dedicated to Dutch arts and history. We got to see some paintings by Dutch Masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh.
Next we went to the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, we only toured here for a short time as we were on a strict time schedule.
We got a late lunch at an Italian restaurant before heading back to the ship on the bus transfer provided.
After we got back on board we waited on the top deck to see us depart and then we spent the evening touring around the ship again and spending time in the Columbus Bar night club.
The next morning the weather was a lot better and the sun was out as we cruised up the British coast.
We arrived back into North Shields on time and departed the boat which took almost an hour to go through security.

We had a small group with a new guide. She supposedly moved there a week before and this was her first day (Labor Day) doing tours. She did a great job, and the entire group had a great time.
ian took one of the zoo maps right away and became our official zoo planner. apart from the fact that none of us realized that zoo closes at 5:00 (really, zoo?!?) he did a fantastic job of prioritizing our route.
Our guides have a lifetime of experience living and working with clients in the desert. Unique to our company many of our guides spent their childhood living with nomadic families and they truly know every grain of sand in Morocco’s deserts. Growing up living off the land they naturally turned to guiding clients interested in eco-tour expeditions of the desert for their careers. They love their desert and are eager to share their passion for the land with visitors.
