The Dussen Castle is a unique Dutch castle which dates back to the late 14th century. The castle was built by Lord Arent van der Dussen after Duke Albrecht gave him permission to build a fortified house. The castle has had several owners, including an eccentric lady from the Suringar family who had herself guarded by six male residents of the village of Dussen. She had her donkey sleep in a tower room, while the guards were forced to sleep in the arcade. Guided tours of the Dussen castle are available during the summer months.

The spines on this cactus seem to be doing a good job of guarding this delicate flower. This photo was taken on the Grapevine Hills Trail to The Balancing Rock at Big Bend National Park in Texas.
I was hoping for some fogbow opportunities this morning they indeed presented themselves quite well. This was probably the best one of the morning.
These fogbows, along with their absence of color, also lack a pot of gold at the end guarded by a leprechaun. All I found was a pile of empty beer bottles, and I was the only Irishman around.

These lovely birds live in southern parts of South America and in Chile they also have a colony in the Falkland Islands which is a smaller population than in South America. They live in grasslands, coastal meadows and in freshwater marshes, these birds are vegetarians and live off roots, stems, and seed heads of grasses and sedges but in the winter they will dig with their bill for their food. These birds form strong bonds and for the mating pair they usually pair up for life, when flying they use very powerful and rapid, continuous wing beats to maintain the flight. The breading season starts between September and November the nest is built on the ground among the vegetation and is usually hidden in tall grasses or overhanging rocks. The female lays between 3 to 8 creamy white eggs and she incubates these eggs on her own and the duration is about one month, she is guarded by the male when nesting and once the chicks hatch they stay together for around 15 hours or so in the nest to dry their plumage, after this they leave the nest and go to the feeding areas. The rainbow fence and little arched bridge is a feature in a shady nook in the Fairy Hollow Garden area near the road at Tesselaar's. Lots of little areas with crystals, miniatures and statues including fairies. HFF and have fun this Good Friday of Easter 2023.

The lizard (imaginatively named "Lizzie" by us) was a nice present given to my wife and I for "house sitting" while friends were on a holiday and I have been looking for a situation to take a photo of it. It is quite small at maybe 5 inches or 125mm in length, but the car is just over one inch or about 26 mm in length. I didn't realise that it actually had the "Defender" name across the front until I got this on the big screen. That name badge is just 2 mm wide! Amazing detail for a car that is meant as a little background piece in a model railway layout.
Deep a jungle there is a rumored temple guarded by twin monkeys protecting something long since forgotten. Some say treasure, some say something far more valuable.
Wat Rong Khun (Thai: วัดร่องขุ่น), perhaps better known to foreigners as the White Temple, is a privately owned art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. It is owned by Chalermchai Kositpipat, who designed, constructed, and opened it to visitors in 1997.
Structures and symbolism
When completed, the white temple compound will have nine buildings, including the existing ubosot, a hall of relics, a meditation hall, an art gallery, and living quarters for monks.
The bridge of "the cycle of rebirth": the main building at the white temple, the ubosot, is reached by crossing a bridge over a small lake. In front of the bridge are hundreds of outreaching hands that symbolize unrestrained desire. The bridge proclaims that the way to happiness is by foregoing temptation, greed, and desire. Next to the lake stand two very elegant Kinnaree, half-human, half-bird creatures from Buddhist mythology.
Gate of Heaven: After crossing the bridge, the visitor arrives at the "gate of heaven", guarded by two creatures representing Death and Rahu, who decides the fate of the dead. In front of the ubosot are several meditative Buddha images.
Ubosot: The principal building, the ubosot is an all-white building with fragments of mirrored glass embedded in the building's exterior. The ubosot embodies design elements from classic Thai architecture such as the three-tiered roof and abundant use of Naga serpents. "Inside the temple, the decor swiftly moves from pristine white to fiery and bewildering. Murals depict swirling orange flames and demon faces, interspersed with Western idols such as Michael Jackson, Neo from The Matrix, Freddy Krueger, and a T-800 series Terminator. Images of nuclear warfare, terrorist attacks such as the World Trade Center attack, and oil pumps hammer home the destructive impact that humans have had on earth. The presence of Harry Potter, Superman, and Hello Kitty confuses the message somewhat, but the overall moral is clear: people are wicked."
The golden building: "A structure that stands out because of its color is the rest rooms building. Another very ornately decorated structure, this golden building represents the body, whereas the white ubosot represents the mind. The gold symbolizes how people focus on worldly desires and money. The white building represents the idea to make merit and to focus on the mind, instead of material things and possession." [Wikipedia.org]
i went to Frigg's store for some poses & spotted the bath tub. Naturally I undressed and leapt in, while Mr Froggy guarded the tub!

The palace is guarded by the Högvakten, a royal guard of members of the Swedish Armed Forces. The guard dates back to the early 16th century. This is a view of the western courtyard with the ceremonial canons
I think I mentioned in a previous post that she was quite nervous about the bugs and animals around her.... I liked her guarded expression.

Almost side by side, guarded by abrupt banks and separated by a sharp ridge, “Lagoa Negra” (Black Lake) and “Lagoa Comprida” (Long Lake) compose an interesting geographic duo. Located in the northern sector of the central plateau of the island of Flores, they’re part of a set of seven lagoons nested in volcanic craters, named according to its characteristics, although, in this case, the eutrophication of “Lagoa Negra” (the one in the left) was responsible for denying the toponymy.

Quase lado a lado, guardadas por margens abruptas e separadas por um cume aguçado, a Lagoa Negra e a Lagoa Comprida compõem um interessante duo geográfico. Localizadas no sector norte do planalto central da ilha das Flores, fazem parte de um conjunto de sete lagoas que se aninham noutras tantas crateras vulcânicas, nomeadas de acordo com as suas características, embora, no caso concreto da Lagoa Negra (a da esquerda), a eutrofização se tenha encarregue de contrariar a toponímia.

When i fall in love, i love hard and with the whole of myself.. throughout my life this has meant that i fall HARD when it all goes wrong. You all have been witness to that if you've followed my stream through my most recent heartbreak..
I guess this has left me very guarded with my heart, sceptical, untrusting.. i hold back. i'm delicate...
i'm also sick today.. dosed up with medicine and i have lots of tissues in heaps around me :( back to work tonight as my ankle is fairly well healed..
