Karol Scheibler's Chapel - a tombstone chapel-mausoleum located in the Old Cemetery at ul. Ogrodowa in Łódź, in its Evangelical-Augsburg part. Completed in 1888 according to the design by Edward Lilpop and Józef Dziekoński. It is one of the greatest works of cemetery architecture in the world and a testimony to the unprecedented development of Łódź in the 19th century.
A small and largely undisturbed wood of mainly beech, guarded by the golf course on two sides, a high stone wall & a barbed wire fence on the other two.

My favorite pastime, as a child, was open up an atlas and imagine to sail distant seas, tracing with a pencil the routes of my voyages ... and collect the postcards arriving at home, pasting diligently in a notebook that I guarded jealously.
The postcards showed me an unknown and magical world ... full of wonderful places ...
I wanted to post this old photo in remembrance of the postcards ... I loved so much.

Le cartoline mi rivelavano un mondo sconosciuto e magico ... pieno di posti meravigliosi ...

When we arrived at Laguna Verde we knew that the journey through the salt deserts and lagoons of the Bolivian altiplano was ending. We knew that within a few kilometers we would be crossing the border into Chile. On the other side we would expect one of the driest deserts on the planet and its landscapes that look the most from any distant planet.
The first couple of days of a baby terns life is very closely guarded as they are so very vulnerable and can be so easily snatched away. The close attention given by the parents is awesome and beautiful to watch. You pray these sweet little creatures make it.

Spring time here in Queensland, and these newly hatched chicks are being possessively guarded by their parents.
Magpie geese are very shy and even though I was at least 60 or 70 m away they quickly rounded them up and headed for cover.
The Berlin Wall (German: Berliner Mauer, was a guarded concrete barrier that encircled West Berlin of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) from 1961 to 1989, separating it from East Berlin and the German Democratic Republic (GDR) (GDR). Construction of the Berlin Wall was commenced by the government of the GDR on 13 August 1961. It included guard towers placed along large concrete walls, accompanied by a wide area (later known as the "death strip") that contained anti-vehicle trenches, beds of nails and other defenses. The primary intention for the Wall's construction was to prevent East German citizens from fleeing to the West. Much of the West Berlin side of the wall was painted with murals like the one in the photograph at the Berlin Karlshost.

Fortress in Kamieniec Podolski, (formerly known as the bulwark of Christianity or the gateway to the Polish) - guarded headland leading to the Old Town.
Originally strengthen existed in prehistoric times. Brick castle was built in the second half of the 14th century, and since 1432 permanently was in the Polish Kingdom.
In 1672, during the Polish-Turkish War, was first time occupied by the Turks.
After the conclusion of a peace treaty in Karłowice in 1699, the castle returned to Polish. It has been expanded and strengthened.
As a result of the second partition of Polish in 1793 Kamieniec became a part of Russia, and never returned to Poland border.

Twierdza w Kamieńcu Podolskim, (dawniej zwana także przedmurzem chrześcijaństwa lub bramą do Polski) – strzegła cypla prowadzącego do Starego Miasta.
Pierwotnie umocnienia istniały w czasach przedhistorycznych. Zamek murowany został zbudowany w drugiej połowie XIV wieku, a od 1432 na stałe znajdował się w Królestwie Polskim.

One night, I attempted to sketch my mother. I worked on the drawing for a while, focusing mainly on her eyes. For some reason, I could not capture that sense of watchful isolation that shielded her vision. Hence, I practiced on Ms. Angel Aquino's portrait instead. I knew then that if I get this portrait "right", I would be able to draw my mother's portrait...and I did.
This is actually the "Genesis" of most of the pieces on my SHADOWS series- a compressed charcoal study on a 90gsm smooth paper.

Der Jungschwan aus 2020 zeigte sich noch etwas zurückhaltend, doch er weiß schon, dass er eine kleine Schönheit ist.
In der Dämmerung fotografiert, auch wenn die Schärfe nicht 100pro ist, gefällt mir die Gesamtstimmung des Bildes sehr gut. Sie passt zu dem trüben Wetter - doch weder durch das Wetter, noch durch die morgen bevorstehende Verlängerung des Corona-Lockdowns, lässt sich die Tierwelt beeinflussen.

It is a private reserve and home to 66 white rhino. The property is heavily guarded by air and ground security to keep out poachers.
The white rhinoceros or square-lipped rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) is the largest extant species of rhinoceros. It has a wide mouth used for grazing and is the most social of all rhino species.
The white rhinoceros consists of two subspecies: the southern white rhinoceros, with an estimated 17,460 wild-living animals at the end of 2007, and the much rarer northern white rhinoceros. – Wikipedia
