The grounding of the River Princess has caused strange currents to erode parts of the beach. These sandbags are there to try to stop the damage.
Sinquerim Beach, Goa, India.
On the 5th of June 2000, the River Princess encountered a fearsome storm off the coast of Candolim. It grounded on the beach at Sinquerim, spilling some 40 tonnes of oil. And there ... in 2010 ... it still was.
Apparently it was finally lifted and removed in 2012.

A record-breaking snowstorm struck Colorado in early February 2012, closing an interstate highway, grounding flights, and dropping more than a foot of snow on the Denver area. After moving out of northeastern Colorado, the storm left heavy snow across Nebraska.
The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this natural-color image on February 5, after skies had largely cleared over the region. Snow and mountain peaks create a mottled appearance in western Colorado. Elsewhere, the snow cover forms a wide, uneven track over parts of Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska.
This snowfall did not break all-time records in Colorado, but it did break records for the month of February. The National Weather Service explained that northeastern Colorado generally experiences storms of this magnitude in March or April, and the February storm showed some of the same characteristics of powerful spring storms, including a system from the Pacific Northwest converging with moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. The storm set a new record for the heaviest storm snowfall for February, depositing 15.9 inches (40.4 centimeters) in Denver, and 22.7 inches (57.7 centimeters) in Boulder.
Colorado ski resorts welcomed the precipitation after suffering from below-normal snow cover so far in the 2011–2012 ski season, but the new snow raised the risk of avalanches. As of February 6, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center reported “considerable” avalanche danger across much of the state.
Heavy snow was not limited to Colorado. The National Weather Service reported up to 18 inches (46 centimeters) of snow west of Omaha, Nebraska.

CAMP CARROLL, South Korea - Soldiers of the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command perform sling load operations with a UH-60L Black Hawk from Charlie Company 2-2 Assault Battalion at Camp Carroll on May 21, 2015.
In an effort to ensure training centered on logistical preparedness and rapid deployment, Soldiers from the 19th ESC conducted sling load operations. Utilizing a water trailer and a tactical vehicle trailer as the load, the Soldiers were able to properly attach hoist lines and grounding cables, secure the load to a hovering Blackhawk helicopter, and safely move away from the area once completed. The Soldiers of the 19th ESC learned the value of effective, precision teamwork, not only with each other, but with the flight crew of the aircraft. The 2-2 Assault helicopter made numerous lifts, and provided first-time rides for some of the 19th ESC Soldiers.
The training event displayed that hands-on training in a real world scenario allowed the Soldiers to understand and comprehend the necessity for sling load operations.

I really hate ladders! My son has been a big help holding this one steady as I was pulling the trigger on the Dewalt Hammer.

A solitary owl perches at the very tip of a slender evergreen, its body perfectly centered against a vast, glowing full moon. Soft pink clouds drift across a twilight sky, their pastel hues blending into cool blues and violets. The owl’s golden eyes gaze forward with calm intelligence, feathers finely detailed in silvery grays and charcoal tones. The tree’s needles form a delicate silhouette beneath it, grounding the scene in quiet wilderness. The moment feels timeless—watchful, serene, and suspended between night’s mystery and celestial light.
