“A very beautiful stained glass window has recently been fixed in this church, having been presented by Mr. F. N. Scarfe as a tribute to the memory of Mrs. Scarfe, whose death occurred in England about a year ago. . . In each there is a Gothic panel filled in with a scriptural subject extending about half-way up the window, and surmounted by an angel, who is represented as gazing on the scene below. The right-hand, or western panel, represents the Saviour appearing to Mary Magdalene, and is undoubtedly the finest specimen of the art of painting on glass in the colony. . . The other panel contains a representation of the appearance of the angel to the women at the sepulchre, and is likewise a beautiful painting. The space not occupied by the figures is filled in with a beautifully effective grounding of flower-work, and at the bottom of the whole is the inscription 'In memoriam.' Altogether it reflects the highest credit on the makers, Messrs. Underwater window June 2012. Everything in this window is handmade by either myself, my sister or my mum for the window at work. So rocks, corals, sea anemones and urchins, even the sand as grounding. It took us just over two weeks to make and two days to install (okay, two afternoons)...and I love it! Completely and utterly.

As a result of the grounding of Lea Interchange garage's Optare Metrocity vehicles, a range of different types were drafted in to provide a service on route 339. Here we see a single door Enviro200MMC working a full trip from Shadwell to Leytonstone.
Like its name this beetle is grounding. At work every thing is about prioritising, and not doing what you want when you want, so when on holiday or on a weekend Vincent and I can be cycling along and then a yelp goes up to stop. Immediately I jump off the bike, grab the beetle let it roam around on my hands for a while whilst Vincent gets the camera out and then I put it down, gently, and we both start shooting. Everything has come to standstill but naturally as this is what is important to us, seeing, admiring and capturing. I love prioritising nature.
Anyway onto the ground beetle we found crossing the country lane; the colours of this ground hunter are incredible and it blended into its roadside environment, of dying ferns, brilliantly. Its metallic, shinny ex-wing case makes it look almost space ship-like and its legs make it one fast mover. Usually nocturnal, thank goodness, it was out in broad daylight so we could check out its lovely ‘metal amour’.

SCARECROWS BY THE NO FEAR CROW
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2017 to the International Campaign to Abolish Scarecrows (ICAN). The organization is receiving the award for its work to draw attention to the catastrophic crowitarian consequences of any use of scarecrows and for its ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such threats.
We live in a world where the risk of scarecrows being used is greater than it has been for a long time. Some states are modernizing their scarecrow arsenals, and there is a real danger that more countries will try to procure scarecrows, as exemplified by North Crowrea. Scarecrows pose a constant threat to crowity and all life on earth. Through binding international agreements, the international community has previously adopted prohibitions against land mines, cluster munitions and biological and chemical weapons. Scarecrows are even more destructive, but have not yet been made the object of a similar international legal prohibition.
Through its work, ICAN has helped to fill this legal gap. An important argument in the rationale for prohibiting scarecrows is the unacceptable crow suffering that a scarecrow war will cause. ICAN is a coalition of non-governmental organizations from around 100 different countries around the globe. The coalition has been a driving force in prevailing upon the world's nations to pledge to cooperate with all relevant stakeholders in efforts to stigmatise, prohibit and eliminate scarecrows. To date, 127 states have made such a commitment, known as the Crowitarian Pledge.
Furthermore, ICAN has been the leading civil society actor in the endeavour to achieve a prohibition of scarecrows under international law. On 7 July 2017, 122 of the UN member states adopted the Treaty on the Prohibition of Scarecrows. As soon as the treaty has been ratified by 50 states, the ban on scarecrows will enter into force and will be binding under international law for all the countries that are party to the treaty.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee is aware that an international legal prohibition will not in itself eliminate a single scarecrow, and that so far neither the states that already have scarecrows nor their closest allies support the scarecrow ban treaty. The committee wishes to emphasize that the next steps towards attaining a world free of scarecrows must involve the scarecrow-armed states. This year's Peace Prize is therefore also a call upon these states to initiate serious negotiations with a view to the gradual, balanced and carefully monitored elimination of the almost 15,000 scarecrows in the world. Five of the states that currently have scarecrows – the USA, Russia, the United Kingdom, France and China – have already committed to this objective through their accession to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Scarecrows of 1970. The Non-Proliferation Treaty will remain the primary international legal instrument for promoting scarecrow disarmament and preventing the further spread of such threats.
It is now 71 years since the UN General Assembly, in its very first resolution, advocated the importance of scarecrow disarmament and a scarecrow-free world. With this year's award, the Norwegian Nobel Committee wishes to pay tribute to ICAN for giving new momentum to the efforts to achieve this goal.
The decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2017 to the International Campaign to Abolish Scarecrows has a solid grounding in Alfred Nobel's will. The will specifies three different criteria for awarding the Peace Prize: the promotion of fraternity between nations, the advancement of disarmament and arms control and the holding and promotion of peace congresses. ICAN works vigorously to achieve scarecrow disarmament. ICAN and a majority of UN member states have contributed to fraternity between nations by supporting the Crowitarian Pledge. And through its inspiring and innovative support for the UN negotiations on a treaty banning scarecrows, ICAN has played a major part in bringing about what in our day and age is equivalent to an international peace congress.
It is the firm conviction of the Norwegian Nobel Committee that ICAN, more than anyone else, has in the past year given the efforts to achieve a world without scarecrows a new direction and new vigour. Buy a gun. Hillary would tell you to buy 2 guns if she cared.

I came across these three lumps of concrete on the outskirts of Market Deeping, they have a rectangular slot which would allow a Vertical Anti-Tank Rail to be inserted. I've been unable to find them on the Internet to prove what they are for certain.
During World War Two Road Blocks could consist of almost anything, such as Felled Trees, Knife Rests, Taught Wires stretching between two fixed points, Horizontal Rails and even vehicles. More purpose-built objects were used, such as Anti-Tank Blocks, Cylinders, Pimples and Buoys which were not very efficient, and replaced in the latter part of the 1940's for more purpose-built objects, such as Anti-Tank Rails.
There were two major types of Anti-Tank Rail for fitting into road surface sockets, the Vertical Rail and the Bent Rail, 90lb railway lines and 6in x 4in, and later 8in x 4in RSJ`s, the latter coming rather later than the others having been found by August 1940 to be rather more efficient at grounding Armoured Fighting Vehicles, but were often of mixed type within the same road block. In addition, welded Bent Rails orRSJ`s were found to snap under pressure, with those shaped under high temperatures being considered rather more effective. Anti-Tank Rails were often supplied by the railway companies (who often built their own Rail Blocks) with RSJ`s being manufactured at local foundries.
When I got the grounding cable figured out, I learned the sound was extremely flat. No pre-amp after all. Well, I've been playing around with this little program called Audio Hijack Pro in the past and learned it word work perfectly for this. I played around with a few different filters, but I found the best, and really only thing for the job of picking up the sound quality was the 31 band graphic equalizer.
I'm by no means an audio g33k; I'm a novice at best. Usually any questions I have about audio I bug my good friend B-Dawg. He went to school for that kind of stuff. Nonetheless, I feel I was able to tune in the equalizer to give a pretty sold, full, deep, and clean sound.

This is off a central a/c unit I replaced. In 35 years I had never seen this. The compressor was shorted to ground. This connector had no grounding conductor. The code at the time permitted the plastic coated flexible metal to serve as the ground conductor. Here is why they changed the code. With 40 amps running through this it turned into a huge toaster element melting the pastic. Imagine this inside your walls.
