Watching this magnificent owl hunting from atop a power pole I had the camera in a portrait orientation to try and catch it as it flew to the ground. Instead it flew across the road and right over my vehicle. A horizontal crop from vertical.

This golden-mantled ground squirrel was on patrol at Yellowstone looking for food from any human passserby

Up the sandstone steps from the more popular harbour-level, to the forested area beneath the shadow of the Blues Point Tower.

In Africa Southern Ground-hornbills are classified as ‘vulnerable’ by the IUCN, however, in South Africa they are classified as ‘endangered’ and on the Red List of Threatened Species as only about 1500 individuals still live within the country. Loss of habitat, loss of nesting trees, electrocution from transformer boxes and even, in some cases, killed for use in traditional medicine, have all contributed to the rapid decline of these majestic birds.
This is how we usually see them, strolling in the veld at a fast pace.

Ground fog is a common summer fog that forms at ground level. The fog hangs low, very low, close to the ground. Over meadows, ditches and sometimes also onto the road. Cow's foot mist. The ground fog is often dissolved very quickly by the power of the summer sun that rises in the morning. It is and remains dangerous to drive, but especially during sunrise and sunset, it is so spectacular to see. There are different names for it: cow's feet fog, ditch and canal fog, radiation fog and fog banks.
The Oudeland van Strijen nature reserve, 500 hectares in size, is a popular area for many winter visitors such as the pygmy goose and meadow birds such as the godwit and lapwing. The land consolidation and desiccation due to drainage had a negative effect on surrounding plots and on the Oudeland van Strijen. At the moment, the low water level in the ditches in winter and spring in particular imposes restrictions on the successful raising of meadow birds.
Its been ground orchid season since February. Last year they bloomed until May.
Ground orchids are a group of orchids that grow close to the ground, rather than on trees or rocks. They are known for their showy flowers and are commonly used as ornamental plants in gardens and parks. Some examples include Cymbidium, Spathoglottis, and Calanthe.
That shown is the Orange Epidendrum Ground Orchid (Epidendrum spp.).

These squirrels are certainly on the large side measuring up to 16 inches in length. This one photographed near the summit of Logan Pass in Montana was found in their typical mountain habitat.
At the time I took this photograph I didn't posses a zoom lens. As such even with a small crop it can be seen how tame the squirrel was.

Columbina talpacoti rufipennis
(Ruddy Ground Dove / Tortolita)
The Ruddy Ground Dove (Columbina talpacoti rufipennis) is a small New World tropical dove. It is found from S.E. Mexico to Colombia and Venezuela. Adult males have a pale grey head and neck, and rich rufous upperparts, black-spotted on the wing coverts. The female is grey-brown rather than rufous, and has less contrast between head and body than the male.

Peaking out of it's burrow to see if it's safe to come out after my 2 grandsons kept pushing the personal distancing boundaries.
They lean against the weathered wooden beam,
With eyes fixed fast upon the autumn grey,
Where aged wings pursue a faded dream
And ghostly shadows chase the light away.
The engine roar evokes a fleeting past,
Of open skies and journeys never made,
A heavy stillness settles down at last
As silver wings begin to slowly fade.
Beside the fence the quiet onlookers stay,
To watch the old planes turn and touch the ground,
While phantom hopes of youth are cast away,
Lost in the propeller’s melancholy sound.
They trace the lines of every landing flight,
Reaching for paths they never chose to fly,
As dark clouds gather with the fading light,
And unrealised dreams drift through the sky.
Spectators watch as the Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX, Comes in to land at Dunkeswell Aerodrome, Devon, UK.

BTW, I've set my Fuji film simulation to Astia, as I think the colours ex-camera are fantastic ... hardly any editing to do to my RAW images in Capture One Fujifilm Express (which is free to use).

While sunbathing in a 'hoyo' , one of the horseshoe shaped stone windbreaks that are on many beaches in Fuerteventura, we were visited by a family of Barbary ground squirrels .
Now what! This newly fledged Barred Owlet didn't quite make his target to another branch and flapped all the way down to the ground for a soft landing close by. Looking a little confused and also looking pleased with his move! .... He did figure things out and after hopping around to a couple low stumps ect... he made it up into the trees. As did his other 3 siblings when they fledged.
