THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FAVES
ON THE REACTIONS I WILL TRY TO RESPOND BACK
8th February 2015 - This windy and foggy day was way to much for these seagulls who decided to wait it out on the gantry on Waterloo duck pond.
Winter Aconite
I like the way that on the greyish, colourless winter earth the bright yellow gives the impression that some sort of filter has been used, but it hasn't.
I took this with a 135mm but couldn't get close enough so I used the aps-c mode hence the exif showing 202mm, but with a 135mm f1.8, full frame d.o.f.

Columbina talpacoti rufipennis
(Ruddy Ground Dove / Tortolita)
The Ruddy Ground Dove (Columbina talpacoti rufipennis) is a small New World tropical dove. It is found from S.E. Mexico to Colombia and Venezuela. Adult males have a pale grey head and neck, and rich rufous upperparts, black-spotted on the wing coverts. The female is grey-brown rather than rufous, and has less contrast between head and body than the male.

This is what I see most of the time in my area. Even if I walk over the ground wave to get a better view of some kind of valley, I will only end up standing in front of yet another ground wave.

Europäischer Ziesel (Spermophilus citellus) - European ground squirrel

Wild South Africa
Kruger National Park
The number of Southern Ground-Hornbills outside formally protected areas in South Africa is declining due to loss and transformation of habitat, poisoning, persecution and electrocution. The species is listed as globally Vulnerable and have been uplisted to Endangered in 2014 in South Africa.
It is the largest hornbill species in the world.
The California ground squirrel (Otospermophilus beecheyi), also known as the Beechey ground squirrel, is a common and easily observed ground squirrel of the western United States and the Baja California Peninsula; it is common in Oregon and California and its range has relatively recently extended into Washington and northwestern Nevada.

instead of going in the afternoon, i went to my spot early morning due to bad weather prediction.
I took this one with the 50mm f/1.4 and had a lot of fun with this tiny lens :-)
Most of the mushrooms were lying upside down. I guess playing kids had a lot of fun destroying these beauties...
Thanks everyone for visiting my stream.
This was as full a shot as I got when this buzzard (buteo buteo) landed amongst the heather. Photographed near Llandrillo, Denbighshire, Wales
Vinca Minor or Periwinkle. A sprawling ground cover plant.
This is a garden escapee found at the top of an old disused railway embankment close to where there once used to be a signal box serving the old goods yard.
This place is where early Mormons settled. It's no wonder why they chose these spots; they are splendid!
Doves in general aren’t one of my favored birds mostly because they tend to be bullies at the backyard feeders. However, ground doves aren’t common in the places I go to so I decided to document this one.

Hi everyone... I want to give your wonderful guys and gals an update... although I still struggle with chronic pain on a daily basis, some days are better than others. I still cannot shoot like I was used to... stooping, bending over, sitting on the ground, etc as is necessary to shoot macro, still isn't possible for me. For now, I must be content to (re)edit and (re)publish shots in my archives.
If you are in a position to help, I have setup an account to accept donations, even as little as the price of a coffee. Anything would be greatly appreciated. See my "About" page on Flickr for the link. Thank you. www.flickr.com/people/jax_chile/

Komm wir bring' die Welt zum Leuchten
Egal woher du kommst
Zu Hause ist da wo deine Freunde sind (Feel my mighty blow)
Hier ist die Liebe umsonst
Feel my mighty blow, let these clouds lay low
As I land with my feet on the ground and go go go
My destiny I need to know
Chasing dreams which way will the wind blow?
Watching days but I can’t let go
Just want to watch your kingdom grow
No one thing as I run up rainbows
My pain grows, only the insane know
How to dance on the moon as the wolf cry moans
In the middle of the darkness I found my zone
You, my love, are never alone
Even when you’re so very far away from home
Sag mir, wie lange wir noch hier stehen
Bis wir endlich so weit sind, dass wir uns in die Augen sehen
Zeig mir, dass es anders geht
Lass uns zusammen singen bis uns die Welt zu Füßen liegt
This species is endemic to South Africa (and the small nations of Lesotho and Swaziland) where it is found on cool rocky slopes of mountainous regions. As the name implies, it spends its time on the ground as its habitat is devoid of trees. Sani Pass, Lesotho
When I was at Jackson Bottom last weekend, this California Groundsquirrel was on a path ahead of me. it was reluctant to leave the path, so I just settled lower and took shots.
Abyssinian Ground-Hornbill - Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda
Bird Species (# 478) that I photographed and placed on my Flickr Photostream. Overall goal is 1000.
On this trip to Uganda we used Ngoni Safaris Uganda. They provided excellent service. I highly recommend them.

There were several different “rodents” running around in the fields out west. The beauty of camping along the way is that you get better opportunities to capture the wildlife around you. It was also spring when we travelled which meant lots of young life around. This Prairie Dog mom is letting her young one nurse. These animals are cute and quite social but many farmers think they are a nuisance because of all the holes they dig.

A ground dwelling bird that lives in pairs or in small groups in savanna or in woodland.
They have a loud booming call that is typically heard in the morning.

Cube houses are a set of innovative houses built in Rotterdam and Helmond in the Netherlands, designed by architect Piet Blom and based on the concept of "living as an urban roof": high density housing with sufficient space on the ground level. Blom tilted the cube of a conventional house 45 degrees, and rested it upon a hexagon-shaped pylon. His design represents a village within a city, where each house represents a tree, and all the houses together, a forest.

The Small Ground-Finch is one of the most common and highly adaptable, as well as widespread of the Darwin’s Finches of the Galapagos Islands. In towns and villages they are found foraging on dusty margins of streets and act very much as would a House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) in other parts of the world. Yet in higher and moister areas they may be seen perched on a Galapagos Tortoise, waiting for bugs or seeds to be uncovered by the movements of the large reptile. This is the smallest and smallest billed of the ground-finches and thus it eats the smallest seeds available.
