Some interesting rocks and views on Granite Island, Victor Harbor, South Australia.

"Granite Mountain Sunset:" The sunset casts a vibrant glow in the sky and water, as a light fog lifts off of mountain from a rainfall just minutes before. If you look closely, you can still see the ripples of raindrops landing in the lake below. Taken this past summer.

Garrapata, Big Sur, California

We're standing on Soberanes Point on the Big Sur coast, looking north along the rocky shore of Garrapata State Park. The granite rocks exposed by the waves are topped by a marine terrace that quickly gives away to the Santa Lucia Mountains. Coastal scrub dominates this view, but the nearby Soberanes Canyon has a respectable grove of redwood trees.

The granitic core of the Santa Lucia mountains, the Salinian block, was formed through the same events as the cores of the Sierra Nevada and Baja California mountain ranges. As the Pacific and North American plates have slid past one another along the San Andreas fault, this mountain range has migrated from southern California, one lurching earthquake at a time.

turns out both of these trucks do in fact have custom split-body jobs. The 7000 doesn't but I believe it's their spare.

Taken way back in 2011. Freezing Cold with -27degree Celcius handhold without tripod. But I don't think I need one though, the light is more than enough : )

This is really a wonderful place for nature lover. I swear I will go back again, summer or fall.

My landlord named his farm Granite Falls Farm after this little waterfall in the woods next to a pasture. So I have given the waterfall the name Granite Falls. It is a 2 tier waterfall and I am perched at the top of the second drop in this scene. I was sad to see that the native Azalea bush that used to arch over the pool below the top drop is gone, but it's still a nice place to visit.

Second pic of the granite rocks that surround Waubs Bay, Bicheno Tasmania. Taken close to where the last one was shot but a bit earlier in the evening.

Waubs Bay is named for a Tasmanian Aboriginal woman; Wauba Debar (1792–1832). She was apparently abducted into forced sex and labour by sealers. Locals erected a headstone in her honour just nearby but it seems her bones were stolen in 1836. Many are the tragedies that blight Van Diemens Land.

This image was captured during one of my autumn visits to Yosemite — a season that transforms the valley into a living painting. I remember standing there, surrounded by the quiet rustle of golden leaves, watching clouds drift past the granite face of El Capitan. The light, the color, the stillness — everything felt perfectly balanced. For me, this photograph is about more than beauty; it’s about presence — that rare moment when nature invites you to slow down and simply be part of something greater.
