On Tuesday, May 6th, the Educational Opportunity Programs hosted a reception to recognize the accomplishments of graduating EOP Seniors. This year, the program will be anticipating the graduation of more than 600 EOP students.
At the event students received a complimentary EOP Sash, a token of appreciation from the program to publicly acknowledge their hard work. Students also had the opportunity to reconnect with members of the EOP Community.

This image of Smith appears within a collage showing the 1892 graduating class of Rush Medical College (Chicago, Illinois). By 1893, Smith had returned to his hometown of Shreveport and was serving the Black community. Based on the 1894 Shreveport Times Directory, he and J. B. Maclin were perhaps the town’s only Black physicians.
