A Texas sized thank you to Annika Sacky and Kaylei Bennett who spearheaded the graduate’s baccalaureate reception on Saturday and decorating the parish hall. A thank you as well to the Knights of Columbus for BBQing chicken, the parents who brought the delicious sides for the meal and the Catholic daughters for setting up graduation reception after the graduate mass on Sunday and handing out rosaries and prayer books for all graduates.
Hunter Limbaugh built and donated two very nice picnic tables to the parish (located on lawn behind parish hall) as his Eagle Scout project. Thank you Hunter!!

Yesterday was my brother's high school graduation. He was one of 1,000 seniors graduating from Lane Tech. I can't believe he's going to college already!
I shot photos at the ceremony with my telephoto, and I'm pretty pleased at how my photos turned out. I had to shoot at ISO 1600 (well, not for this photo, since it was outside), so the photos are hopelessly noisy, but I managed to get some blur-free photos handheld.
PS: I'm super psyched: just pre-ordered the 50mm f/1.8G AF-S from Adorama. I have no clue when it will ship - hopefully soon :)

According to a 2011 report by the Economic Policy Institute, young college graduates still lag behind older college-educated workers in the labor market: 9.3% of them are unemployed, more than double the 4.7% unemployment rate for college graduates age 25 and older.
