Sunrise photographed in Hossa national park on a lake ''Hypäsjärvi'' at 3 AM.

This photo captures the peaceful beauty of sunrise over Lake Starnberg. The sky is painted with deep blues and glowing oranges, blending into a soft gradient that feels almost magical. A gentle circle of light adds a unique charm, while thin clouds and airplane trails stretch across the sky.

The lake reflects the sunrise colors perfectly, making the scene feel calm and serene. In the foreground, there’s an office and industrial buildings with lights glowing from their windows. The mix of warm and cool light spilling out adds an interesting contrast to the natural beauty of the lake and sky.

It’s a photo that feels both quiet and alive. The stillness of the water and the glow of the sunrise make you pause, while the small details, like the trails in the sky and the lights from the building, remind you of life happening all around. It’s the kind of moment that makes you stop and take it all in.

I woke up tired and grumpy from a long and treacherous car ride into this mountainous region of south India. It's an area where tea and spices grow in abundance. After hearing the rooster calling and deciding that I was too hungry to sleep, I got up and looked out the window to find this spectacular sunrise. The day turned into a rainy and miserable day but for fifteen minutes the sky put on a show worthy of getting up!

This digitally transformed image of a blooming Toyon branch (Heteromeles arbutifolia) merges natural photography with painterly texture and gradient sky enhancement. Native to California, Toyon is a hallmark of the chaparral ecosystem—often called “California holly.” By blending traditional capture with post-production artistry, the final piece evokes a dreamlike balance of clarity and abstraction, inviting viewers to see nature through both lens and imagination.

The Mackinac Bridge is a beautiful site, connecting the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. As the sun went down there were a few hundred people at the State Park taking in the view and taking photos. I think that the best photos came after the sun was below the horizon.

My wife said that this was the exact same photo as the postcard she had just bought. I took it as a compliment, but I'm not sure. :)

A thin crescent moon rises in a gradient sky, shifting from orange to deep blue. A minimalist composition capturing the fragile and silent beauty of dusk.

I reworked this image. Original sky just had too much noise. And I brought out more detail in the shadows.

This surreal landscape features luminous yellow-green pools cascading across a white, alien-like terraced terrain. Jagged rock formations rise in the distance under a soft gradient sky, evoking an otherworldly sense of wonder. Crafted by Duncan Rawlinson, this image blends AI and photography to create a vision that feels entirely off-world.

We just returned from a week long vacation to Mackinaw, Grand Haven, and Whitehall, MI. I have a bunch of photos to go through, but here is one that has me excited to look through the rest of them. This was a 15 second exposure with my tripod resting in the water an inch or two above the waves. It was dark enough that I did not need a neutral density filter to blur the water.

View On Black

i love my sigma 10-20mm... because i can't afford a canon. Haha!

This is one of those spots that I pass frequently, always threatening myself to stop the car and shoot. I envision the shot in the frame. Something always keeps me from stopping. For this spot it's usually a lack of a dynamic in the background... the sky would be to plain, or clouds would not be in the right place.

Last night... nothing stopped me when I saw the colors behind the silhouetted lamps. An even though there is not really anything in the background, the dynamic of color is what did it for me.

At first, I was bummed that the lights were on... I wanted a more lonely feeling. But, I think I like the lights on.

Lots of noisy grain... I had accedentally left the ISO @1600.

I went to Terminal 3 of Airport Stuttgart at about 6.45am, business was quite lowgoing. Most of the shops were still closed and I had some time to shoot.

This is the view parallel to the starting lanes - the front view was still closed, too. So I was looking for something nice on that part of the building.

...there you are!

How many times have we seen ferris wheels on flickr - too many to count, I'm sure. Yet, as I walked by it I couldn't help noticing how the sun was striking it as an object. I think using the polarizer filter seems to accentuate it all the more. I played with different angles and I think the second image here seems like a huge tennis racket in the midst of a serve...but maybe that's just my imagination!! ;-) I really was trying to capture that sense of a flower leaning toward the light with my camera angle, but I'm not sure that worked either! Don't you just love the sky in these? It's so nice!

I'll hop back in and say cooler stuff later, maybe tomorrow; right now, I'm punched in the head with a Fist of Busyness (+2 against Wendigs).

I had such positive feedback with the last shot of Spaceship Earth I uploaded I decided to upload another one. This one is also a remake but this is also the first night picture I ever took at Disney World.

I love the new Maroon 5 song. It's awesome!

Listen to it here.

Yeah, it's a little grainy, but whatever. I love this time of the day, the sun is almost done setting and the sky just looks absolutely beautiful. I definitely needed that after such a stressful day.

sooc.
