The graceful curves of Chicago’s Lake Point Tower rise into the featureless, overcast sky over Lake Michigan.

Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!

"Sharing" a meal with her sister, this Cooper's Hawk chick slips off the tree branch, but recovers and balances nicely, displaying her lovely wingspan.

The remains of the meal are in her left talon, so she's doing this on one foot. These are two of the three chicks we've been monitoring this summer. Time to go back and see if they've started their migration yet. If not now - soon!

High res as usual - zoom on in!

“There’s a trick to the 'graceful exit.'

It begins with the vision to recognize when a job, a life stage, or a relationship is over — and let it go.

It means leaving what’s over without denying its validity or its past importance to our lives.

It involves a sense of future, a belief that every exit line is an entry,

that we are moving up, rather than out.”

It's really quite amazing when a Great Blue Heron gracefully balances on one leg. They are an amazing bird to watch and photograph!

* If I don't love the state capitol building of Louisiana , I certainly celebrate the State. It will be forever synonymous for me with good food, great music and birds

This Great Egret was defying gravity at Lake Martin near the town of Beaux Bridge . It lifts the heart just like the opening chords of Louis Armstrong’s 1928 recording West End blues 3 minutes of perfection . Absolutely nothing to do with the image but enjoy this musical miracle

Built of stone to last many generations, the graceful bridge over Varsity Lake encourages all to slow down, take in the scene and note the ducks, koi, turtles and garter snakes.

I am certain that youthful beauty shines brightest but standing tall with the wisdom of age illuminates better. Time is the light modifier on life.

This is an American Avocet strolling across Pond 5 at the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch. I love their coppery plumage during breading season. I thought this one looked rather graceful with it's fluid gate and up-curved bill.

A wildflower called fringed yellow loosestrife, a tiny flower that loves deep shade and moist conditions. A hint of sun and it withers away.

Thank you for your visits and comments, they're all greatly appreciated. Have a great weekemd!

Happy and Blessed Easter, everyone!

I have so many pics of sandhill cranes (Antigone canadensis formerly Grus canadensis - Gruidae), but I get excited every time I see them.

This young one I found at Uihlein Waterfowl Production Area just south of Waukau, Winnebago County, Wisconsin.

Last spring and summer I watched this bird for hours. She would go to the bird bath and rest. Then go to the feeder and eat, rest, repeat. I love this bird, more than any other bird I've had the opportunity to capture. I showed this bird to an expert … was told this dear girl was likely old. I don't think I'll see her this year. I only hope she aged gracefully.

I hope you find her as lovely as I do!

There must have been a Great Egret convention in town because the riparian preserve was packed with them on Sunday. Thought this one looked graceful as it took off from Pond 2.

Humpback whales, effortlessly diving & surfacing in unison. This pair even exhaled within a second or two of each other, blowing synchronised clouds of spray way up into the air above them.

Very occasionally, there are those rare moments when you just have to forget the shot, lower your camera & just look.
