Last nights aurora delivered the goods.

The sky was dancing and pulsing at a speed I've never before witnessed.

We headed straight to the hoodoos in Drumheller and watched the display go through many changes.

I have lots of shots from last night but this was my favourite.

Thanks for looking

LMS 2-6-0 Crab 13065 with a demonstration goods train at Quorn, GCR

A loco and railway combination that's been at the top of my photo charter list for a while was the former Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway's Ironclad at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.

That was ticked off last month when I attended a 30742 Charter with No. 52044 at the railway, seen here between Oakworth and Mytholmes Tunnel on a lovely spring day.

Its 1961 and there are engineering works on the East Coast Main Line, so the Scotch goods has to head wrong line from London to Scotland. Each van is marked with a different destination for when the train is split once in Scotland. On this occasion it is hauled by the prestigious 'Flying Scotsman'.

I just love this view from the Bunnahabhain Distillery across the Sound of Jura to Jura - took the photo a while back on the iPhone and have tried to give it bit of a nostalgic treatment in black & white on the the Affinity App i have on my Mac Book - the fact there is a clipper in the view hopefully helps.

Was intrigued to find out that the reason all the Islay Distilleries are on built on the coast and have piers is that the only way to get the Whisky off & on the Islands was by boats.

There were many little Clyde Puffers just like the "Vital Spark" in Para Handy a televised comedy of short stories written by Neil Munro moving goods in out of Glasgow to all the Western Isles.

Having watched this series on the TV as a child i'm away to but a copy of the book just now - cheers

Built in 1908 for Colman's of Norwich. It has been restored but is awaiting the correct style of roof to be added. I had this same type of wagon on my model train set way back....Colman's still make great mustard.

I felt it is not easy to catch up the light came out from the jewel.

The main reason I wanted to travel over to the Cotswolds over the weekend is that recently overhauled 3850 would be working on the railway's set of goods wagons. This included an early morning run departing Toddington at 0835. Saturday was a cloudy start, however on Sunday the conditions couldn't have been much better. Some cloud that had been hanging around over the hills to the east cleared away in time, but they were still present to add more interest to the sky as seen here. The cool morning temperature made for the mega exhaust trail. I was stood on my trusty stool to get over the vegetation here, which has become a bit intrusive at this angle near to the fence.

Scotrail Sprinter 156 458 Passes Maxwelltown Goods Junction with a Glasgow Central to Carlisle service. The only bit of P&C left of the former port road from Dumfries to Challoch Junction. When the line closed on the 14th June 1965 a short section remained open to serve the ICI factory at Gargenbridge until 1992. Black 5 45305 heads a freight at Swithland Sidings, Great Central Railway

L&YR No 52322 brought the first of three Bury to Ramsbottom goods services into the station. Despite the announcement for people to stand back as the train was heading straight into the sidings it parked up by the water tower. There was certainly a decent set of wagons attached behind this well respected locomotive which dates from 1896 and is the sole survivor of its class.

Guest loco 13065 heads south towards Quorn on the GCR with a demonstration goods train. Thanks goes to the driver for keeping the clag on where others would be easing off on the approach to the station.

A line of container cars slide through Truckee on a winter's day. Rain, shine, or snow the goods must go through. Got to keep those Amazon stocks healthy. :-)

We're hunkering down for what looks like a whopper of a storm that will be affecting us for the rest of the week.
