I composed this photograph in early autumn, hoping it would project some of the startling colour and beauty of this special season. In the Northern Hemisphere, autumn doesn't end until December 21. But in reality, it has already departed the western mountain lands in which I live. I'll miss you, sweet autumn.

It's funny , I had a great Christmas, and even though there was a lot of sickness in the house, we all had a great time. The family music session singing old Irish songs was the highlight for me. It was a long slow goodbye to a year I wished hadn't come quite so quickly. Full of wonderful highs and the lowest lows imaginable. I only really thought how much I missed Sue on the journey back yesterday, all alone with her in the car. I'll be giving her a long slow goodbye for a long while yet. As typical winter flowers I thought the hellebores would make an appropriate photo to finally say goodbye to winter. I still recover from my vaccination side effects but managed a short walk today during which I found them in a woodland area of a local park. Under the trees of this area it will be rather dark in late spring and summer but right now the sun still finds the flowers which cover the ground.
Despite snow, ice and freezing rain, there are still a few autumnal pictures to be had! Pretty sure the forests here will be covered in snow by the end of next week, though.
Charles Robert Watts, better known as Charlie Watts, born 2 June 1941 was an English drummer, best known as the member of the Rolling Stones from 1963 until his death, this Tuesday, 24, August in 2021.
Originally trained as a graphic artist, he started playing drums in London's rhythm and blues clubs, where he met Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards. In January 1963, he joined their fledgling group, the Rolling Stones, as drummer, while doubling as designer of their record sleeves and tour stages. Watts, along with Jagger and Richards, are the only band members to have been featured on all of their studio albums.
In 2016, he was ranked 12th on Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Drummers of All Time" list.

Starting yesterday, in a 24 hour period, the weather went from a pleasant, sunny autumn with colorful trees, to a furiously windy, snowy, cold early winter day. It's still officially autumn, but the bare trees don't know that ; -) Today, the leaves on this tree are long gone, scattered amid the forest litter.

My ankle injury happened the next day as I was walking from the beach at right on the opposite side of the bay to the white sand beach at the left. As you can see I was not climbing the Himalayas, but one wrong steps can be life changing.
