Humanity’s greatest hero
Monsters’ greatest foe
A Secret Santa gift for Cody Avery. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
When an oversized Jar Jar Binks is on the loose only Godzilla stands in the way of his destructive clumsiness.
“Heyo tiny people! Mesa back! Bombad J.J. gonna teach you a lesson”
The Clumsy Creature is out for revenge but Godzilla is nearby signing autographs (using a very large pen of course) and he does not like that Jar Jar is bothering his own fans.
The King of Monsters has no patience for the King of Idiots so he grabs the Clumsy Creature’s long ears and tears him apart.
Jar Jar will be back. He always does for he is protected by the most powerful plot armor in existence. But today he won’t bother people any more :)
Some time ago I posted a photo of Godzilla action figure fighting against Jar Jar ( here is the link if you are curious: www.flickr.com/photos/133750589@N08/24925721582/in/photos... ) and I promised to make an image of Godzilla defeating him :)
However I run into a couple of problems since this Godzilla figure has a good articulation nearly everywhere except on the legs and finding a nice pose for the scene was not easy.
In the end I went for perhaps the most simple of the poses :)
I hope you like it :)
May the Force be with You :)
Bit of a Godzilla nerd, didn't think there was a man in a Godzilla costume in the early days before CGI. That's what made it fun to watch, still is fun even though I know.

Yup, another face-off. Because why not? Do you remember the previous head-to-head from earlier this year? That's right, in this exact same spot...

This was actually a real picture once of Innsbruck, Austria that I took a long long time ago. While processing the image the sky somehow caught fire. When Godzilla appeared that made sense. Just in case you're worried about the woman in the bottom left, she's really a ship's figurehead photographed at a museum. So she's not real, but since she's carved of wood then there is some concern.
Godzilla is a legendary monster, kind of a cross between a mutated marine iguana and a dinosaur (awakened from the ocean and mutated by nuclear radiation), that spawned the longest running series in movie history, beginning in 1954 and continuing to the present. In recognition of Godzilla's fame there is a gigantic statue of him overlooking Shinjuku, Tokyo, on the 8th floor of the Hotel Gracery (that comes alive and roars every hour) and a fascinating collection of movie posters from the 32 movies to date in the hotel lobby. Three more movies are in production.

Microman (pronounced Mee-kuro-mahn in the Japan market) is Takara's name for the Micronauts in Japan.
Some of the cool ideas they've had included cross-licensing with Toho studios to make 'suitmation' sets.
Suitmation is the Toho originated style of using a kaiju suit worn by an actor in a scale model miniature city. This was born of necessity as Eiji Tsuburaya was given the responsibility of the SFX in the first Godzilla move in 1954.
Special effects then were limited and matte work often yielded results so bad that they would jar the viewer from immersion in the movie. Tsuburaya was a tremendous fan of the 1933 King Kong and, in particular, the stop motion animation of Willis O'Brien.
Tsuburaya wanted to use this technique to animate Godzilla but it was estimated that it would take seven years to complete that much animation while Toho had demanded movies from directors Ishiro Honda and Akira Kurosawa that year.
So Tsuburaya built scale model miniature city sections and a suit. The 1954 suit, called the ShodaiGoji (初代ゴジ) was made of rubber, cotton, wood, wire, and other materials. It was heavy and even dangerous for the actor.
The directors delivered what Toho wanted in 1954 (Honda with Godzilla and Kurosawa with Seven Samurai.) and both movies were very successful. They are now considered the 'two pillars' of Toho and their office building in Japan features a giant mural of Godzilla on one side and the Seven Samurai on the other.
Takara created these sets to reflect the suitmation process with Microman figures and kaiju costumes for them to fit in. This 2004 set represents Godzilla vs King Ghidorah.
Like Medicom's effort to represent suitmation using a Godzilla suit with a Combat Joe,* Takara's does suffer in execution in that the suits are non-articulated. Once the Microman is in the suit, that's it. He just stands there.
And the suits themselves attach in pieces to the Microman so if you don't insert the Microman, the suit can't even display properly.
Still, for fans of the kaiju genre and suitmation (Which we are.) it's a cool toy to represent a special effects style that has peaked and is fading out of existence now that CGI has made such incredible advancements.

At the Paprihaven observatory, super-hero Hardcase spots Godzilla Force agent Margaret O'Brien. He decides to strike up a conversation and maybe impress her.
"Wow, there are all the moon phases. There's the Waxing Gibbous."
"A waxen gibbus!? They think the moon is made out of wax?? And what's a gibbus, anyway?"
"Oh! Um... it's just one of the moon phases. I mean, you're an astronaut or something like that, right?"
"No. Why would you think that? And what's all this about waxing and gibbuses??"
Hardcase suddenly regretted starting the conversation.
"I saw your armor... it looked spacey."
"Spacey!? I'm with the Godzilla Force! We fight Godzilla!"
"Oh... yeah, cool. Anyway, good to see you."
"Do you really think the moon is made of wax??"
"Nope."

Okay, fine! The Paprihaven moon is pretty weird.
After considering all other options, it is obvious.
Multi-ton boulders precariously balanced on-top of granite outcrops?
This could only have been done by gigantic alien beings from another galaxy! They must be toying with us . . . Or, even more shocking, it might be leftover from their children’s games.
What else could it be?
I have written an urgent message to the National Security Agency warning them of the dire danger to our country, yet I have not heard back from them . . . could they be complicit with these extraterrestrial giants?!
Prepare for doom and devastation, citizens of the world!
Now that I have properly warned you, I am going back to finish watching the Godzilla movie that I started earlier . . .

Four years ago in the beginning of my photography adventure I went to the beach looking for some nice rock composition and this structure catched my eye on the first sight.
Name of the picture imposed itself, as these rocks remind me the back of Godzilla submerging in the sea.
Four years later it's still there, so I try to capture it different way.
Timothy Aloysius Cadwallader "Dum Dum" Dugan
Member of Nick Fury's Hallowing Commandos
Member of Agent Carter's SSR
Agent of SHIELD
Actor portraying Dum Dum: Neal McDonough
Timothy Aloysius Cadwallader "Dum Dum" Dugan is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics Universe. He is an officer of S.H.I.E.L.D. and is one of the most experienced members of Nick Fury's team, known for his marksmanship with rifles and for his impressive physique. He is recognized for his trademark bowler hat. Neal McDonough appeared as the character in the 2011 Marvel Studios film Captain America: The First Avenger.
Dum Dum Dugan first appeared in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 (May 1963), and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Dum Dum Dugan received an entry in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Update '89 #2.
Dugan was born in Boston, Massachusetts. During World War II, while working as a circus strongman, Dugan helps Nick Fury and Sam "Happy" Sawyer escape the Nazis during a mission recounted in issue 34. Dugan later joins the British Army, and when Sawyer is charged with creating Fury's First Attack Squad, also known as the Howling Commandos, Sawyer invites Dugan to become second in command. His exceptional strength saves the day in several of his adventures in the Sgt. Fury comic books. Later on in life he is placed in charge of internal security on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. He is a corporal. Dum Dum Dugan is placed in charge of a SHIELD Unit coined The Godzilla Squad, charged with the task of tracking and stopping the radioactive kaiju. Over the twenty-four issue series, Dugan goes from loathing the creature's destructive tendencies to accepting the beast's existence after Godzilla saves him on numerous occasions. Dugan later recalls a long list of his greatest nightmares, one of which includes Godzilla.
Found a great location today - A large rocky plateau extending into the sea and then falling off in brilliant fashion.
The place I was standing in for making the shot was about 1 foot deep in water. My kids were with me, and just as I was starting to roll a great wave completely washed all of us, so we had to retreat to the warmth (and spare clothes) of the car...
I am certainly going back there again - many more compositions to explore.
Taken with Nikon D90, Sigma 10-20 and a 6 stop B+W ND filter. with an aperture of F10 this combined to a sweet 6 second exposure.

From HG Toys in 1986, the SportFreaks series is something we've had our eye on for some time.
Led by M.U.S.C.L.E., miniature figures, or minifigs, have always been a favorite for us. Particularly those that are a bit weird.
We had seen the SportFreaks figues online but had not encountered any in the wild. The figures are readily available loose on eBay but a bit pricey per figure.
We had also spotted a boxed set online, but had never seen these in singles on the card.
Until now! Woot! Woot!
We came across seven of the twelve from the 1st Series on the card and did not pass up this opportunity.
HG Toys was a significant player in the toy industry, particularly in the mid-to-late 20th century. Based in the United States, the company had a strong connection to manufacturing in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia, which was a common practice for toy companies during that era.
HG Toys was known for its business model of acquiring licenses for popular characters and franchises and then producing a wide variety of toys, often focusing on playsets, dress-up costumes, and other accessory-based items. The company was particularly active from the 1970s through the 1980s.
A key figure in the company's design and marketing was Mark Nuccio, who later founded his own design firm, Design Edge, after HG Toys was acquired by Superior Toys.
The "Hong Kong" part of the company's name or manufacturing origin on products was a direct reflection of the globalized toy manufacturing industry of the time.
From the 1950s to the 1980s, Hong Kong was a powerhouse of plastic manufacturing, and "Made in Hong Kong" was a symbol of quality and a high volume of production. HG Toys, like many other American toy companies, leveraged this by having its products manufactured in Hong Kong factories.
HG Toys released a vast number of products, often tying into the biggest entertainment properties of the day. Some of their most well-known toy lines include:
Licensed Playsets: The company was famous for its plastic playsets based on popular movies and TV shows, such as Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Godzilla, Masters of the Universe, and Fantasy Island. These sets often featured small, non-articulated PVC or plastic figures and various accessories, vehicles, or playset environments.
Dress-Up Costumes: HG Toys produced numerous child-sized costumes and role-playing accessories, including those for He-Man and Skeletor from Masters of the Universe and characters from the WWF (now WWE), such as Hulk Hogan.
PVC and Miniature Figures: The company created a wide range of miniature plastic figures, including the "Sports Freaks" series, as well as various creatures and dinosaurs. These figures were often used as cake toppers or sold in multi-packs.
While the name "HG Toys Hong Kong" might suggest a company solely based there, it was more a part of the supply chain for the U.S.-based HG Toys, which was responsible for design, licensing, and distribution in North America.
The SportFreaks line featured a collection of miniature PVC figures and larger action figures, each depicting a character with a humorous or exaggerated sports-related theme.
The toys were produced for various sports, including baseball, basketball, football, and hockey. Each figure had a unique name and a distinct design that often played on a sports cliché or a pun.
Known characters and figures from the series include:
Baseball:
Pine Tar Pete: A baseball figure, sometimes seen in an oversized, 16-inch version.
Shorty: A baseball shortstop character.
Basketball:
Hoops Dribbles: A basketball player figure.
Roller Skater Basketball Player: A character with roller skates.
Blimpo: Another basketball figure.
Football:
B. Bike Hiker: A football figure.
Ox: A large football player figure.
Food Processor: A football-themed figure.
Crutch Clutcher / Arm Chair Quarterback: A figure depicted on a crutch or in a chair.
Hockey:
Ozzie Twister: A hockey player figure.
Scoop Skater: A hockey-themed figure.
Hold M. Tight: A hockey player figure.
The figures were available in different sizes, with some being smaller PVC cake toppers and others being larger, full-sized action figures.
Quirky, weird, and centered on really weak puns, the line is fondly remembered by minifig collectors and considered a treasure when found in the wild.
a Desert Spiny Lizard eyes a fat hornworm caterpillar with a meal on its mind. The hornworm would have grown to be a Rustic Sphinx Moth.
Shogun Warriors Godzilla by Mattel -1977
Lyrics from "Godzilla" by Blue Oyster Cult ALSO 1977... Coincidence?
The Gojira. Let's start with the toughest part - the grille, I've seen fellow builders built it with the panel piece (30413), so I had to try hard to find another way of building it, and finally the spoiler piece (30925) gave me the solution, it's a difficult method because it has to be hinged in a way that it wont cause collision/friction.
Then the rear is equally as difficult because I had to do something different to what my colleagues had done with their R32, so the end result is not very accurate, will tweak it as soon as I have fresh ideas.

C-17 Globemaster III is the USAF’s primary strategic, large transport aircraft developed to replace the C-141 Starlifter. It is named the “Globemaster”, but within its community, it is also affectionately known as “The Moose.” This nickname comes from the sound that is heard when the air is venting during refueling on the ground – it sounds like a moose bellowing. The C-17’s missions are strategic airlift, transporting supplies, personnel, or weaponry over long distances. The Globemaster airdrops both paratroopers and cargo for resupply over areas that may not be easily accessible to other aircraft or behind enemy lines.
-- Globemaster III Interesting Facts --
‧ 4 Pratt and Whitney F117-PW-100 turbofans produce 40,440 lbs of thrust per engine and propels the C-17 to a cruising speed of 550 mph and a service ceiling of 45,000 ft
‧ Cargo Load: 102 troops/paratroops; 36 litter and 54 ambulatory patients and attendants; 170,900 pounds of cargo (18 pallet positions)
‧ Mission: tactical airlift, airdrop missions, and medical transport of medical litter and ambulatory patients
‧ Landing: can land on small runways as short as 3,500 feet and can perform a three-point turn using reverse thrusters to turn around on runways as narrow as 90 feet wide.
‧ C-17s Produced: A total of 279 have been produced since 1991. Its highest production years were 2002 to 2009 when 16 were produced each year. The final production year was 2014 with a count of seven.
‧ Record Holder: The C-17 has broken 22 records for oversized payloads, and has also been awarded the Collier Trophy, a highly prestigious aviation award in the United States.
‧ Special Delivery: The first time the C-17 deployed paratroopers into a combat zone was in March of 2003 when 1000 U.S. soldiers of the 173rd Airborne Brigade were inserted into Northern Iraq.
‧ A C-17 travels along with the President’s plane, transporting both the President’s limousine and the security detachments when the President makes visits within the United States and at foreign locations around the globe.
‧ Operators: Operated by Australia, Canada, India, NATO, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States
‧ Popular Culture: You may recognize the C-17 Globemaster III variants in shows such as the movies Godzilla, Iron Man 1 & 2, and American Sniper. You’ll also find it on TV shows like Seal Team, Hawaii Five-O, and Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

This did not start out to be a Japanese scene. The painting just took over and here you are. That's "Fuji" at the top of the building and "hotel" on the side. The bunny is "Miffi," a character from the Hello Kitty world. Everyone knows Godzilla... shrunk with old age and motivated by the floating Maki roll mirage. The piece was just fun. STB: Somehow, I don’t think that’s how the story goes. But this is your playtime, so what ever. Don’t forget your sammy, you don’t want Godzilla to gobble that up either!
Old Mac: You’re so funny. He doesn’t like people food, just people! Besides, I’m safe in here. And besides, that’s not Godzilla, it’s his bestie Iforgotasaurus! And beside it’s Miss Sith to the rescue!
STB: Okie Dokie, if you say so. Good thing no one in the galaxy can see this, otherwise you’d be in double trouble for mixing things up. Everyone knows Miss Sith only showed up to save your sammy from the dreaded, flying Hungry Cyclops!
Old Mac: Oh, Unka Dude, you’re so right! You’re the bestest ever at pretend. Where’s my camera? I gotta document this!
