This bonnet mascot or hood decoration, named ‘Goddess of Speed’, was used in some models of the company Packard. It is colloquially known in America as the ‘donut chaser.’ The sculpture was designed by John D. Wilson for Packard, and is Art Deco style.
Goddess of Oil was done in 1941 with Marjorie Morris posing for this to be the a 40 foot center piece for the International Petroleum Exhibition but the Golden Driller statue was erected in place of this. More history at www.readfrontier.org/before-the-golden-driller-plans-were...

Come the month of Ashwina (Sept-Oct) in the Bengali calender and the Goddess Durga arrives in Bengal. The soft fragrance of the Shiuli flower perfumes the air and the whole state resounds to the sound of Dhak as Bengalis celebrate Durga Pujo..Beautiful clay idols of Goddess Durga are placed in gorgeous pandals and worshipped, the festivities lasting for five days..The Goddess is depicted as slaying the evil demon Mahishashura symbolizing the victory of good over evil.On the penultimate day the idols are taken out in a procession and immersed in rivers and other water bodies.
Now Durga Pujo is celebrated by Bengalis all over the world.
In Kolkata the idols are traditionally made in the locality of Kumartuli (Kumar-one who works with clay).I took this shot this morning there. As yet the idols are just being made and over the next month they will be painted and gorgeously arrayed for the celebrations.
A poster to remind you ladies of the goddess within. A journey through the chakras to connect with source.
Moon Goddess
Created with Bing Dall-E AI engine. PP work in Adobe PS Elements 2024 RAW filters.
hyper-detailed portrait of the ethereal Chang'e Moon goddess jhana Mudras, white peacock, adorned in intricate gold jewelry and an elaborate headdress. walking gracefully with flowing robes her closed eyes radiating calm and wisdom. Flowing orange robes drape over her, layered with beaded necklaces. A glowing white moon halo frames her figure, while two delicate cranes add elegance to the scene. The artwork blends fantasy, divine beauty, and serene regality.

The scene here is Lord Shiva in disguise of a beggar getting food (annam) from Annapoorani (a manifestation of goddess Parvati). According to mythology, Parvati while offering the food did not let any rice fall even though her saree was falling and Shiva got impressed by Parvati's commitment to 'annam'.
Sun Goddess
I'm enjoying continued exploration of digital painting techniques, in this case keeping things relatively simple to transform the gold reflector into a glowing sun (see earlier #bts posting). Even more than yesterday's Moon Goddess, this is meant to be more symbolic than some of my more realistic composites. It's a good line to be intentional about - if either of these images was meant to be realistic, the central character would be in silhouette. I think the danger in such composites lies where it's unclear which side of the line the image is supposed to be on.
