While waiting in line for the Disney Store. Enesco booth. Couture de Force Frozen Fever Elsa and Anna figures. Preview of December 2015 release.

Day 1 of the D23 Expo, Friday August 14, 2015.

Goals: Disney Store LE Coronation Elsa and Hans Doll Set, pre-order DFDC doll collection.

I got to the Anaheim Convention Center parking lot at about 4:50 am. I got to the lineup for the D23 Expo in Hall E, which is below ground, at about 5:15 am. There was already thousands of people in front of me, just in the D23 Silver/Gold Member line for D23 shopping. My line started moving at around 7:30 am, and we got into the main Exhibit Halls at about 9 am. I then waited in the very long line for the Disney Store. I finally got in the Disney Store at about 2 pm. As I waited in line, the CM with a microphone kept on updating us on the availability of LE items in the store. As I approach the head of the line, the D23 exclusive Elsa and Hans set was still available. But they said that there were no more pre-orders for the DFDC doll set, so I was really disappointed. I was happy to learn when I got into the store that in fact they did have fifty of the DFDC doll set available for pre-order. So that I didn't miss out on the pre-order, I rushed my shopping and taking of photos of the displays. I got the Elsa and Hans set, the DFDC and Story Films lithographs, and most of the DFDC mugs and journals. I lugged the items to checkout, and pre-ordered the DFDC doll set. My gold D23 card enabled me to get a 10% discount on the non-LE items. I didn't buy her, but I verified that the Princess Leia doll was 12'' and LE 450. I was happy with what I got, even though I missed out on a lot of the more limited LE items. There are still chances on Saturday and Sunday to possibly get them. Art of Jasmine is tomorrow, and they said all of those items will only be sold on Saturday.

I am posting two hockey photos today. Just for a trial, I took my wide angle lens to the game instead of my usual 70-200. The only viable spot to shoot from with that lens was from behind the net. I did get some shots that I wouldn't get with the telephoto, but I don't think I will do it again, or not often, certainly.

One shot was a close-up of the immediate goal celebration and the other the intensity of the game with both players battling with sticks high in the air while the puck is below. I imagine that they both swatted at the moving puck and missed. The two photos were taken relatively close together with the goal celebration actually being the first. After the faceoff, they must have charged down the ice again and had another close call.

The number, 5, tells me that it was the same boy in both photos. I just shoot the action and seldom know whom I am photographing.

Note: Off in the left corner the referee is signaling goal by pointing. I seldom catch this. For that matter, I seldom capture the sticks raised in celebration either, for I have a nasty habit of looking up and not keeping my finger de[pressed on the shutter button.

... She decided to stay at Candlehearth Hall for the night and get a little bit of rest. Sun was setting, when she asked the patron for a room. Luckily she had gathered a bunch of septims when she was fighting her way through the caves and ruins, so the 10 septims rent wasn't much of an effort. The room wasn't what one would call a luxury, but it would do.

The inn was filling and the new guests and burning fires were spreading a cozy atmosphere when Brinja went upstairs and sat down at a table. While she was waiting for the innkeeper, she took a look on the current guests. Her glimpse stopped on a beast of an Argonian; pale, a red paint on his head he was eating a soup and some bread. Probably he overtowered most men by one feet and he was incredible muscular. Then, after a while, the inkeeper made her way upstairs and Brinja ordered a mug of mead.

Like silk the liquor flowed down her throat. A pleasant warmth was spreading through her body. "I don't see many Vigilants drinking something else then water." the the old woman smiled sarcastically. "I am not many as you can see." Brinja replied and took another deep gulp with ostentation. All of a sudden she heard someone laughing loudly. Obviously the Argonian ahd been observing the scene. When she looked at him he raised his glass and Brinja was not fast enough to surpress the smile that flitted over her face. Turning around she said to the innkeeper: "However, have you heard something about the events in Helgen?" "Only rumors. Nothing in particular. Only that it should have been some kind of military thing. I have heard of someone in Kynesgrove who might know some details. It is said that he stayed at the inn there." That was enough information for Brinja. So her examination would lead her to Kynesgrove next.

She left Windhelm early at the next morning, making her way South, to Kynesgrove. It didn't take her long to reach the little village, only two hours. She aimed straight for her goal and directly headed into the Braidwood Inn. When talking to the bar tender she found out that a man called Shady Sam had further information about the happening in Helgen. Unfortunately he only was one or two days of the week in Kynesgrove, Turdas and Fredas, so Brinja had to rent a room for three days she spent waiting for that particular person.

Finally he arrived on the late afternoon of Turdas. Brinja should have guessed when she heard the name of this man, of course he was not olny called shady, but actually was. Instead of giving Brinja the information, she was forced to give 100 septims to him before he felt up to tell her what he knew. It turned out that there had been an military operation somewhere near Darkwater Crossing. He said it had been a capturing mission of a high value Stormcloak target led by an Imperial general. That was all he knew. "Cutthroat!" Brinja mumbled when stepping away from Shady Sam. Even if it had cost her a bunch of money, Brinja at least knew now, where to find out more about that military operation. Darkwater Crossing.

As soon as she had her information Brinja left the village immediately, making her way through Skyrim's hot springs South of Kynesgrove. At least it was comfortably warm here, so Brinja was able to take off her cloak. After a while she heard something growling relatively close to her. Alarmed she looked around. As she stepped over the hill she saw a dog fighting with two wolves at the hill's roots. Not willing to watch how the dog would get slaughtered she pulled out her mace and summoned her magic within her body. Immediately a flame began to dance in her left hand.

The impact of the steel mace hit the wolf hard. It was thown back by the power of the strike Brinja had landed on its flank. Yowling the wolf was lying at the ground obvioulsy seriously injured. Before it was able to react the dog sprang forward and sank his teeth into the wild animal's throat. Unleashing the flames in her hand the second wolf found a quick death. Panting the dog retreated from the dead body of the dead wolf he had biten and lay down a little bit aside. He watched Brinja while she was cutting off the skin of the wolf, a wolf pelt was always useful.. When she was finished she turned towards the dog. Blood flowing out of the wound at his right leg stuck his fur together. Brinja put her hand on the wound, closed her eyes and concentrated. Deep inside her she found the stream of the magical essence that was hidden in every animate being. Powerful she let it flow oever her hand into the the wound closing it. Then she opened her eyes and got up. As she was about to leave she realized the dog had gotten up too and followed her. She turned around, squated down and stroked over the dog's head. "You want to come with me, huh? You have nowhere to go back to. Alright, let's go on this journey together, my boy." she said smiling. So she stood up and both of them, human and dog, continued their way through the hot springs of Skyrim...

Goals for 2012

I was tagged by Solarsenshi

Rules of the tag :

- Create a list of 5 to 12 goals about the dolls for 2012.

- Create an another list of 5 to 12 goals also about yourself.

- Tag 9 peoples or more.

Doll:

1.Complete the move into the big doll room, once everything is set up make sure everything stays organized. Take pictures.

2. Keep better track of dolly spending, write down all my doll related expenses in the notebook I bought especially for this purpose. Don't forget to write things down :p

3. Buy less dolls than last year especially Pullip, off to a good start as I haven't bought any Pullips yet this year... I may be in the process of buying two Lati Yellows though ^^;

4. Get caught up and keep up with the new Pullip releases, try to resist impulse buys and focus on getting the new releases I still need and customs!

5. Focus on completing dolls, rather than acquiring more also focus on completing projects before starting any new ones. I have a laundry list of clothes/wigs/shoes/eyes I need to complete dolls especially my bjds. Try not to add any customs to the do list unless I free up a slot either by completing a project or giving up on it... My major custom goal for the year is to have a Joker made by Requiemart.

6. Don't neglect to photograph the bjds and dollfie dreams, I still have two bjds I have never photographed and it's been forever since I have attempted any form of a group photo.

7. 366 doll project Already failed this, I'm working a lot more hours now so unfortunately I don't have much free time for anything at the moment. So I will try and take more pictures in general instead!

Self

1. Update my blog more, my goal had been three times a week but due to crazy work hours at the moment I'm lucky if I am able to squeeze one in a week at the moment ^^;

2. Try not to start collecting anything new this year.

3. Work on photography!

4. Make it through the zilla daddy's upcoming military deployment unscathed ie. no floods/fires in the apartment which would seem like a realistic goal until you realize I start a fire every time I try to cook something >__<

I don't real comfortable tagging people so if anyone wants to do this and hasn't done it yet feel free.

Libellula depressa

so, my first marathon was another goal for the year...

i am gonna mark it off because it is more than just the event... it is the countless hours spent training as well... check as a goal, half check as a marathon finish... see below.

yesterday, the chicago marathon was stopped due to extreme heat. now, if you know me, i don't fare too well in these circumstances. my strategy for the race was a negative split, where you run the first half slower than the second. according to my split times, i was off only by a few minutes. i was feeling great at mile 13... and then...

the temps rose very quickly around mile 14 and i started feeling the effects of the heat. as i passed the medical tent at mile 15, i saw it was overun. people were passed out everywhere. the conditions on the course were just BRUTAL. the water stations at this point forward had a hard time keeping up as runners would take one drink and then four more cups to pour over their heads. a LOT of people were walking.

i was running a half mile and walking two blocks. i struggled running through taylor street because that is my old home and i needed to make my peeps proud and then mostly walked down ashland to pilsen. i counted 9 ambulances at the corner of 18th and ashland. i started running again and that is when we started to hear the police say the course is closed. people were confused. i was light headed and the stomach cramps worsened. it was 88 degrees.

i made a push down 18th street and as i turned onto halsted, the cops were physically stopping people from running. it turns out there were not enough ambulances in the city to meet the demand. that got my attention and completely deflated the will of everyone. so much of this is mental that the news hit hard. now i was running a block, walking a block. i ran into my friend michelle in chinatown and she ran with me to the 35K marker (just short of 22 miles), where i figured it just wasn't safe to run anymore. she walked with me through 24 . i walked to 25 and then ran into grant park. in all.. BRUTAL.

i found out later that one runner died during the race and over 300 went to hospital. countless others were treated on the course. also, the organizers had to reroute the race at the half way point and create a makeshit finish line at the other end of grant park. wow, i am happy i didnt have that girls job. what a project management nightmare. of 45000 registered, around 25000 people finished the race, but i dont know how many of those did the ~16 mile makeshift finish. so i figure i was one to complete and survive the 26.2 course, which is an accomplishment in itself, just not a marathon. i feel it was a psuedo finish and i am compelled to do this all over again.

thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and a special thanks to those i saw out on the course.

# 15 in my 30 days of photos from my bed series

at the san francisco red bull air race someone is making the last goal

A new series in the works.

I suffer from osteoarthritis, especially in my knees, and this Wednesday I had my second total knee replacement this year. My right knee was done in April & I was done early enough to be sent home the same day. This time I had to remain overnight. Post surgery nurse had a great sense of humor & when he helped me into my room I didn't have my glasses with me & I pointed out that the sign looked like it said "chocolate" when it said "ambulate". He left me, returned immediately with a marker & changed "ambulate" to "chocolate". Then he changed "void" on the next line to "wine". Needless to say I had a good laugh. I will be moving slowly for a while, but have taken some photos earlier this month to get by for a while. I will be back to checking out your lovely shots a bit at a time! Cheers!😍😍😍

Between the snow, ice and mist we've had over the past couple of weeks I've really digging minimalist images like this one.

i've been trying a lot of new stuff lately

being inspired by new people

it amazes me everyday how much i have yet to learn

edit: i wrote that about photography, and then realized it pertains to just my life as well.

hah

No matter how many goals you have achieved, you must set your sights on a higher one.

Even with that old face, i can still work toward the goal of making my body look like this at least.

Light tank for you kind folk. The goal was to blend the function and some elements of the Russian Sprut with some bits and bobs from the BMD-series. Emphasizing mobility and firepower into one vehicle, this bitch sports two 12.7mm MGs, one 125mm rifled main cannon, and benches in the rear for supporting infantry to catch a ride during rapid outfit maneuvers.

I've been enjoying the work of several photographers on Flickr of late that produce works based around simple scenes cropped from their broader context and with interesting (usually natural) lighting. This was a stab at some thing similar now that we have some actual sunlight.

It doesn't really work as well as I'd hoped, but there is something there on which I can try to improve over time.

As an aside, flickr really could do with an @ notation to make it easier to refer to other users. I'm using their iPad app and there's no obvious way for me to link to the people that inspired me.
