My goal for this year is to be as good a mommy as I was today. Simple.
(this was an alternate shot for my 365 today, but I love the look on Miss H's face and realized that this is kinda what it is all about - so I am using it here:)).

I am not sure when I first started to set goals in my life but I am guessing it was before I was twenty years old. Though I have missed a lot more goals than I hit, I still find myself doing that task, sometimes just for the day, sometimes for the longer term.
When I first started photography a few years ago, I wanted to specialize in shooting birds in flight. I soon learned this was more of an advanced skill than I possessed at that time.
Over the past few years I have gotten better with larger birds like hawks and eagles but still was overly challenged by quick, fast birds.
One of my goals for the last couple of years as the warmer months approached was to shoot pheasants in flight, one of the more difficult challenges if you do wildlife shooting from a vehicle as everything that happens is very sudden and random.
Earlier this week from a distance of about 40 yards I saw 3 pheasants by the side of the road getting their morning grit. They spotted me and quickly skittered down into the ditch and up onto a large, bare field. I knew they could not make it into any brush without flying so I got out of the vehicle, focused on the first one and held my finger down as it took off.
Pretty stoked at the result, although at my stage of life I need to go easy on the stoke part.

Instead of watching football last friday, I ran outside and searched in the polder for a nice field with crop. In my neighbourhood farmers don't care about leading lines, the fields are a mess but the sky compensated the lack of a good foreground.

Captain Shahril's shot in the second half resulted in the 2nd goal of the match, a lone effort. Bravo Shahril...

Hey guys!
Exactly one year ago I started my 52 weeks project. The 1st may 2011 was one of these boring sundays and I remembered that I had a Flickr-Account. So, I looked at a lot of photos and thought: "I wanna do this, too." I was amazed by all the 365-project and I thought about starting one, too. But then I realized I would never be able to do it. So I started a 52 weeks project and this was my first photo :) (I really hope I have improved :D)
I know that finishing 52 is not as awesome as finishing a 365 but for me, this project was really important.
It made photography become a big part of my life. I had a Flickr-Account before I started the project and I also had my camera but I didn't have any concepts or ideas and I actually didn't think much about photography.
I have learned a lot this year. And I met so many amazing people on Flickr. I'm sure that Flickr-people are the nicest people you can met. I can't thank you enough for your comments, views, faves, testimonials and above all: your inspiration.
I've reached more this year than I have expected. Some of my photos were on explore and two of my photos were on the front page.
I love photography and I am sure that it will always be a huge part of my life. Thank you all so so so much!! <3
+ some of my favorites in comments :)
So the challenge was to light up the entire bird without any shadows. Also to have the maximum depth of field. We used 200mm macro lenses and let the speed lights stop the wing movement. Catching the hummers fighting was the goal but this happened so fast you had to be shooting when it happened. I spent six days, 10 hours a day shooting this setup. Out of all those shots less than 40 were usable.
Commit your way to the LORD,trust also in Him,&He shall bring it to pass.PSALM 37:5*
Anytime people set goals for their lives that require great striving, intense frustation, repeated failures,&manipulation of others-that is an unrealistic goal.
It is not within the realm of their God-given talents&abilities. It is beyond GODs plan&purpose for their life. Now,Im not saying that the achievement of goals doesnt require effort, education, training,or the development of skills.
Those factors are always necessary in the attainment of any goal that is worthy.God doesnt give us talents&abilities that are fully developed. He requires that we sharpen them&mature in their use.
ITs another thing entirely to commit yourself to becoming an opera singer when you cant carry a tune in a bucket.
The Waag River, that was my goal for the day and I got there via a beautiful detour of greenery and forests and extensive valleys. Not everything is about photographing trains, for me personally anyway.
Since the double railway line passes over two different bridges, this was a challenge that I was happy to take on to photograph there.
On foot with shoes in hand I ended up on an island where I had a nice view of the two bridges and there I took this photo, one of many, of a ZSSK Vectron with its Tatran express on the way to Bratislava.

I want this year to be an opportunity to be more present and aware of the privileged life I'm fortunate to live. 2019 was a year that often kept me in low places, and I continually found myself beneath a weight of burdens that I let tie themselves to me rather than let them pass over me.
To that goal, my partner suggested journaling to me. To write down the things that I struggle with. Write down the things I'm grateful for. Write down the things that are important to me.
My photography goals in 2020 mirror that of my mental health goals. I want to feel more open to being creative, and I want to be less selective about what I share. I want to spend less time under the weight of being perfect, or better than the last shot. I'm not built for that grind.
I scanned through the first journal entry I wrote in my new journal and came across the phrase "I want to be happy."
I wanted to share that piece of my journal without revealing all of my other sensitive things I'm writing about, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to embrace my photography goals as well.
I want to be happy. I want the people around to me to be happy and healthy as well.
Here's to a happy 2020.
