Goa Gajah, ook wel Olifantsgrot genoemd, ligt ten oosten van Peliatan vlak bij Ubud in het midden van Bali. Goa Gajah dateert uit de 11e eeuw en is in 1922 ontdekt.
De ingang van de grot bestaat uit een soort monsterlijk wezen met wijd open mond. De grot heeft een 13 meter lange gang die uitkomt op een T-splitsing. Aan het uiteinde van de linkergang staat een beeld (1 m hoog) van Ganesha met vier armen (de hindoegod met de olifantenkop). Out of the more than twenty fabulous churches which once existed in the old city of Velha Goa, only ten remain today. And of these four are actually chapels. The churches were located on and between seven hills around the Velha Goa region.
The Monte Santo (Holy Hill) at Velha Goa was the site for the the monastery of the Augustinian order, attached to which was the enormous church of Nossa Senhora da Graca (Our Lady of Grace). The Tower and Church were built in 1602 by the Augustinian friars who arrived in Goa in 1587.
The tower is one of the four towers of St. Augustine Church that once stood at the site. initially built of laterite and colossal in size, almost forty-six metres high, it had four storeys. The Tower was meant to serve as a belfry and the Church had eight richly adorned chapels and four altars and a convent with numerous cells attached to it.

Awards at the hands of Renowned film actor Sachin Khedekar with art and culture Minister Govind Gaude. Directorate of Art and Culture, Director Shri Gurudas Pilernekar, Padmashree Pandit Prasad Sawkar etc were also present
The awardees are Pramod Priolkar, Priol (Indian music), F G Alvarro de A Pereira, Utorda (Western music), Dasu Shirodkar, Tarvalem, Shiroda, Gajanan Jog (son), Caranzalem and Avecleto Afonso, Panaji (literature), Ganesh Marathe, Corlim, (drama), Maria Fernandes (Betty Ferns), Sangolda (tiatr), Romaldo D'Souza (Paul Romy), Chinchinim (tiatr), Udaybua Phadke, Mulgao (kirtan), Umesh Tari, Old Goa, (bhajan), Ram Mauskar, Nagargaon (folk art) and Sadashiv Parab, Moira (fine art).
Antruz Lalitak Bandora, also awarded the best cultural institution. The best library award award to St Xavier's College, Mapusa, while best librarian award given to Sadanand R Shirgaonkar and Mohandas Naik.

Gewürze, bunte Farben, an schöne Inderinnen in ihren Saris, an den Dschungel mit seinen wilden Tieren, an himmelshohe Berge und wunderschöne Küsten, an all die Vielfalt und Kontraste, die dieses große Land bietet. So geschieht es auch, wenn man Indien bereist. Meine Reise führte 2500 Kilometer durch Südindien, ausgehend von den Küsten Goas zu den größten Tempelbezirken der Welt, nach Hampi das sich über eine
26 Quadratkilometer große Steinlandschaft erstreckt. Weiter in die 6 Millionen IT Hauptstadt Bangalore in Karnataka und nach Mysore, der Königsstadt mit ihrem einmaligen Palast. Weiter in den Bundesstaat Kerala nach Cochin und Allepey, in die Wasserwelt der Backwaters, die zu bereisen ein unver-gessenes Erlebnis bedeutet. Vom Süden zurück über 1000 Kilometer nach Goa, wo man sich von den Strapazen der Reise wunderbar erholen kann. Meine Bilder sind nicht nur fotografische Dokumente dieser Reise, sondern sollen vor allem als ikonenhafte Darstellung des heutigen Indiens verstanden werden.
