Latest purchase.
One of these here GoPro doohickeys. I like unusual point of view shots, but so far have been manfully struggling with a Manfrotto Magic Arm and a 'proper' camera, but I finally decided to take the plunge and see what these things are all about.
I looked at all sorts of action cameras along the way but have gone with the GoPro Hero 4 Silver thingamabob which has a rear touchy feely lcd built in (that's good), erm it's waterproof (I knew that, duh...)... Ah, now photo resolution is a hooting great 12mp, which is a lot on what must be a tiny sensor, but sounds promising.
Video... erm 4k (no idea), 2.7k (not a clue), WVGA (erm...)
Well anyway, there's a lot to be learned for a luddite like me so it's going to be interesting getting to grips with it all.
I also got one of those bags of bits off Amazon full of cunning looking mounts, and chest and head harnesses. Must be the wearable tech I've heard a lot about lately, it's the new big thing apparently, looks a little clunky to me, but still...
Shan't be taking it out yet, not until I'm fully up to speed with it all, but it all looks like good fun.
In January of 2016 I traveled to Peru to reunite with a few friends and circumnavigate Mt. Huascarán 6,768m (22,205 ft) by bicycle. The 20 day bikepacking trip started in the hot desert near Samanco and peaked at the Tunnel Punta Olimpica where we crossed at 16,000ft by bicycle.
