Well, I must say, this is not a self-portrait. So I cannot post to the self-portrait group. Life events have put me behind on my weekly journal of self pictures. It was a personal journal of sorts for me to catalogue my weeks and reflect on my journey ahead.
Sometimes in life, our creativity wanes and other activites catapult to the forefront. Which has been the case for me this Fall 2008 and still carries over to this December. I fully enjoy Flickr - I do hope that my photgraphic eye and creativity will be reignited soon. My personal journey has been full of change, which I have embraced. Some changes, I have enacted, others were put upon me.
Along with change, and a whirlwind at that- ones own energy is drawn - in order to cope.
I probably haven't been the best of friends to many, I haven't given of my time to my parents, I have withdrawn from some. Have not spent enough time smelling the flowers, or giving in a way that I would have liked to over the past several months
However, I set the foundation this year to move in a totally different direction - and I have done just that......it is my goal for 2009 to tap into my creative side, laugh more with friends, love more, and live more......and visit my sister's resting place to lay beautiful flowers in her memory.
Afterall, Life is a journey that we all travel - and at the end of the day, it truly is about relationships, peace, joy, happiness and giving back in some small way to enhance the lives of others, being nature, animals or people.
And there are truly some beautiful people I have met on Flickr, those who share their stories through their photos. Some remarkable individuals - you know who you are.
My plaque mounted on White Rock Beach this past November 2008 is my legacy to a place I love, and to those who face fear in change. Truly embrace it, because change will happen anyway. It is our attitudes that may need adjustments.

Tough Guy Nettle Warrior is the Summer version of Winter Tough Guy and is run at the end of July, less of the cold, more of the pain! The course is essentially the same as Winter Tough Guy but with a number of evil twists.

Dear Flickrites,
Fool that I am, I have entered the BUPA 10K run to be held on May 4th in Edinburgh. I did so at a time when I had never run anything like10K in my life even though I’m 50 something... mumble, mumble. And another thing I have never done before is to ask people to sponsor me which, as you have guessed, is what this image is about.
Yes friends, you can obtain that golden glow of having done a good thing by pledging a donation to my chosen charity, Edinburgh Headway.
Edinburgh Headway help people recovering from serious head injuries by providing a variety of specialised services from their base at Astley Ainslie Hospital. It’s a great service held together by two very determined and gritty individuals - see:
and more directly and personally, you can see an old friend Paul, preparing for his run last year here
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/6256623.stm - watch the video.
Paul was with me at Astley Ainslie for some time and we had many adventures together. Sadly he died last year, something which was a factor in my decision to do this run.
Headway do not have an on line donation website – they’re too busy doing amazing things for amazing people every day so please make your pledge thingy by FLICKRmail to me and I will provide details of how/where to send your donation.
Photographic evidence of my completion will be provided and I’m looking to achieve a sub 60 minutes time (though it’s a tough course!). Hope you can find a few quids for Headway, a really people oriented organisation.
Cheers and thanks for reading to the end! :-D

One of the many reasons I love my homeland of Wyoming! Captured this lovely sunset on my way home to Fort Collins from visiting family in Wyoming. Had a sweet but short visit and I always try to find the time to get some images on my card.
Despite the forecast. live like it's spring
