A chilly dawn up on Loughrigg. I left home at 3.45 am and had a gentle drive up to the Lakes. 5.15 am and I was stood here waiting for the sun and hoping for an inversion or mist in the valley. There was a little mist down on the River Brathay and Elterwater away to my right here, but once the sun came up that quickly went.
This was actually a lovely view looking down towards Windermere with the dawn glow hitting the small cairn here on Loughrigg Fell. The lack of any significant cloud rendered much of the sky as a pale hazy frieze, hence the crop.
The sunset was promising to be a very mediocre affair with no clouds to add interest, but patience was rewarded. After the sun went down this spectacular glow just hung around the horizon and with the trees letting the glow through I was quite pleased with my trip to Hatchet Pond in the New Forest near Beaulieu, Hampshire.
It's an indescribably beautiful feeling to stand on the Niederhorn, to admire the view over the sea of fog and the colours of the evening twilight...
Bernese Alps
Ein unbeschreiblich schönes Gefühl ist es, auf dem Niederhorn zu stehen, den Blick über das Nebelmeer und die Farben der Abenddämmerung zu betrachten.
I love a night like this with the sun setting behind me, dark clouds to the east, and the mountains basking in the golden glow. Sprinkle on some reflections, and I am a very happy photographer!

The sun was shining through these plant outside my office last week. I thought it was pretty cool how it made the "leaves" of this plant glow.

8.45 A.M. The sun just went out from behind the mountains. The sunlight is very intense and get diffused in the mist. I wanted the lake silky and try to capture this gorgeous light. The use of filters was justified. I decided to close the diaphragm at mid-range f/11 to allow a quite long exposure and keep enough of this magic light.
Warm glow of the late sun reflects off the paddler and anchored boat.
This image runs 'Hot and Cold'
Warm evening light, accentuates the boarder's skin tones and lights up the boat, yet contrasts with the icy blue tones and the snow peaked, Mount Baker background.
Mt Baker also known as Koma Kulshan or simply Kulshan, is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington in the United States. (Wikipedia)
