Glover House (1863) in the Glover Garden at Nagasaki was built by Scottish industrialist Thomas Glover. It's the oldest wooden western-style building in Japan.
Theater in Gloversville, New York. Efforts are currently underway to fund a restoration of the historic marquee.
For the record, I feel better today.
Had a good day in work as I was out and about doing inspections and observations. Its good to get out from behind my desk.
It also gave me a chance to pop into the shops between visits for a bit of retail therapy.
One pair of leather gloves - tick
Two pairs of thick woollen socks - tick
(It was 'brass monkey' cold this morning)

Had to smile when I saw the theme of this week's 'Smile on Saturday' challenge - my nephews have so many different gloves for different sporting activities: cricket, cycling - but these new goal keepers gloves were the ones they chose to model.
For the Four Models in One Day Shoot, Jenny gets the award for most accommodating model, as she was put out not at all by my command decision to change the location of our shoot. The heat that day was so intense I was sticking to the seat of my car, and I'd only been driving for three minutes. Perhaps having come out of a well-cooled condo into the sweltering bake of an LA heatwave had something to do with it.
In any event, when I called Jenny to tell her I was going to be late, she happened to mention that her place had no a/c, which almost sent me into a fit of tears. Instead of crying, as there's no crying in Photography, I told her to meet me outside, picked her up and took her, instead of back into her torture house, to ice cream. Because at that point, with the sun obviously trying to drive me mad by boiling my brain, I wanted to take no pictures, talk to no people, drive no cars. All I wanted was some smooth, cool chocolate chip cookie dough. Afterwards, my brain sufficiently frozen, we headed, not back to her Hollywood Hills kiln, but to Tarina Tarantino, workplace of one of my other models, Natasha. She was the third of four models I was shooting that day, and with the weather what it was, I knew I'd be a quivering mess if I didn't do some scheduling triage. So I shot both Jenny and Natasha at the same time.
Did I mention Tarina Tarantino is air conditioned, and that they've got free bottles of water? Because it is, and they do.
Might I also add that the gloves featured here, medical gloves found at any good hospital, tend to trap heat in the body, causing one to become quite warm in the right temperatures? And by quite warm I mean I put them on outside earlier and upon taking them off had sweat pour out. Jenny is a trooper. Go Jenny.

This is my favorite of the last set. I love the contrast of the bright pink against the drab natural background.
