Solid, gleaming ice.
Side to side, end to end.
Globules of frozen snow
cling to the old stone wall.
Iced branches straighten
like petrified fingers,
in the winter chill.
Blue and white hills
mark light and shade.
Still.
Silent.
In suspended animation,
but stunningly beautiful.
Each season has its
colour-profile trademark.

Eyes that gleam with joy and impregnated with hope are not so much for the colour as for the affection and warmth she’s been touched with. A frame from Vrindavan’s Widows Holi, a heart-warming event celebrated each year.
Last Wednesday morning, my beautiful buddy Gleam died in my arms. We'd even had him to the vet, as he was the most wonderful boy and a fine roo, but I could not save my sweet friend and buddy. Gleam was the first of his clutch, one rejected by their broody, so I raised them all by hand from day one. Gleam was extremely special and personable. I often joked that he was more obedient than Grant. I guess they are together now. My sweet buddy Gleam left this world nearly as he began it, gently pressed to my heart.
I miss him so much. Losing them both a month apart is beyond awful—my two buddies and farm helpers.
In addition to his rooster duties, Gleam would follow me around, hens trailing behind him (especially after he became senior roo earlier this year), talking to and listening to me. He was such a wonderful bird. These pictures are from Easter. Gleam and I would go visit 'my' wild crabapple along the back trail. He was also happy to let me pick him up (out of sight of the girls!) so we could admire my garden together. If I did have the audacity to pick him up and cuddle him in front of the hens, I always gave him treats to offer his ladies after putting him back down.
He and Grant, my two guardians of the flock, have been buried together. :'(
With threatening skies rolling over, and the sun battling through the cloud-cover, K153 and K190 with Y164 in tow, bask in the light as they drop through Riddles Creek with the return of the Maldon Weekender.

19/5/24. THNSW owned 40 class 4001 is seen pulling a set of carriages and 60 class 6029 down towards picton for the 'Thirlmere Festival Of Steam'. This was the last train for the event.

This sunset was a bit of a surprise following a dreary, pre-winter-storm day in Medicine Bow, Wyoming. (11-16-2018) Already cold and wind rising, the sunset over the mountains to the west of Elk Mountain made the day's end far more appealing.
A gleaming GB Railfreight Class 92, 92028 cruises through Hartford with the Caledonian Sleeper Down Highlander (1S25).
A revised timetable was in operation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with two trains running in each direction - one to Inverness and Fort William and the other to Edinburgh - meaning no services to Aberdeen or Glasgow Central.
In summary, the uplifted timetable has a Load 14 Highlander serving Inverness (x8) and Fort William (x6) and a Load 8 Lowlander serving Edinburgh only; along with 6 extra coaches being moved as ECS on the Lowlander in each direction twice per week (Southbound Sunday and Wednesday / Northbound Monday and Thursday) to rotate units for maintenance.
