Die St. Bartholomäus Kirche ist heute die Kirche der katholischen Pfarrgemeinde. Sie wurde ab etwa 1250 zeitgleich zur St. Katharinen Kirche erbaut und gehörte zu dem nahe beim Marktplatz gelegenen, heute nicht mehr existenten Franziskanerklosters, einem der vier ältesten Franziskanerklöster Deutschlands. Wie bei Klosterkirchen üblich, besitzt St. Bartholomäus keinen Glockenturm sondern nur zwei kleine Dachreiter.
Das Madonnenbildnis dieses Farbglasfenster ist der Sixtinischen Madonna von Raffael nachempfunden.
Oppenheim, an einer ehemals wichtigen Handelsstraße zwischen Frankreich und Deutschland gelegen, wurde häufig überfallen und geplündert und hatte immer wieder andere Herren, bis die Stadt 1945 zu Rheinland-Pfalz kam. Die heutige Bausubstanz stammt komplett aus dem 18. Jh., da 1689 die Burg Landskrone und die Stadt durch die Franzosen total zerstört wurde. Oppenheim ist durch seine Weine bekannt und insbesondere den Oppenheimer Krötenbrunnen.
