We would highly recommend this Design Hotel when visiting this fascinating city.
Due to the location of this window I had trouble getting a photo of it so I apologize for the shadow on the ,iddle, bottom window - but it was a beautiful window. This is in the Bell event Centre, an old Catholic Church, built in 1842, in Cincinnati.
The eye is not sharp, if it were up to me, I'd have stopped it down. But, I wasn't used to aperture priority and the truly small 45mm Rokkor-X
Senate House - Madras University
It is one of the finest monuments in Chennai and a living example which shows the remarkable architectural skills of the famous architect of 19th century, Robert Fellowes Chisholm. The wonder of Chennai, the Senate house, located on the Madras University Campus, near Marina is a landmark in Chennai. The structure is a live example of the Indo-Saracenic style with a harmonious blend of Byzantine architectural features.
The Senate built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, incorporates many elements of the Byzantine style.[8] The great hall of the Senate House is of immense height and proportions and considered to be the finest of its kind in India.
The Senate house has a central hall with corridors on the ground floor. The corridors stand on six massive pillars standing on either side. Also the four sky touching towers standing at each of the corners of the building gives it a dazzling look. The six porches, two on the eastern and western sides of the building and one each on the northern and southern side of the building further lend the structure a vintage look. There also are three segmental arch openings in each porch in the east, west and south of the porch. The roof is made of brick shell with lime mortar.
Talk about walking into the past! I'd never been in here before today and I definitely plan on coming back. Built in 1924, this building houses the Huntington Bank Headquarters in this amazing atrium, which was once one of the largest buildings in the world and to this day holds the record of world's largest bank lobby. The lobby also has some beautiful murals by Jules Guerin.
Below the lobby there are small businesses including a diner, barber shop, etc. If you've ever been to the Rockefeller Building in New York City, this building bares a stunning resemblance in the hallways. It's a shock to walk out the doors and be back in Cleveland all of a sudden!

With its 5 naves it is overwhelmingly great and one of the largest churches in Europe. The light falls through splendid stained glass inside. Fascinating is the decoration of more then 3,400 statues.
Built on the place of the preceding church of Santa Maria Maggiore, the work on the Cathedral Duomo started 1386.

The royal yacht HMY Britannia berthed at the port of Leith in Edinburgh in Scotland, now a tourist attraction. The yacht is fairly huge, and makes for a good visit. Tourists can access many portions of the royal yacht and also do photography, and it is one of the places where you can see how royalty lives. This photo shows the pier at which the HMY Britannia is berthed, and seems a fairly busy pier, with another ship berthed just next to it along with the glass fronted building on the shore that also acts as a tourist center and a mall. How often do you get to see how royalty live ? When such a ship gets decomissioned, where does it finally come to rest or does it get torn down ? Well, the royal yacht, HMY (Her Majesty's Yacht) Britannia, was commissioned in 1954 and was finally decomissioned in 1997, after a long period of 43 years in use. It was first used by the Queen of England in 1954, and also played host to some US Presidents during that time period. The Yacht was also seen as a floating bunker, since it was supposed to hide along with the Queen off the coast of Scotland.
The Yacht was tended to by a crew comprising of members of the general service of the Royal Navy, volunteers who could opt to serve on board the yacht (and some served for as much as 20 years). When the Queen was on board, there would also be a platoon of Royal Marines on the yacht. This was not the first yacht to be designated as a royal yacht, since royal ships have been in service since 1660. However, after the ship was decommissioned, there has been no replacement royal yacht, and it would seem that in times of austerity, there would be no such ship for the royalty of England in the future.
After decommissioning, the ship was berthed in the port of Leith in Edinburgh in Scotland, and is now a tourist attraction, part of the various tourist packages for visitors in Edinburgh, and draws around 250,000 visitors every year. The Yacht is also available for hire for evening events.
