Brussels is the capital of Art Nouveau and magnificent structures throughout the capital city are recognized as "world heritage" by UNESCO. The brilliant creative works of Victor Horta, Paul Hankar, as well as those of other architects, bring pleasure to thousands of visitors who enter the private world of these opulent houses every year.
At the turn of the 19th century Brussels went through a period of unrivaled effervescence. The middle classes, merchants and artists opted to have their houses built in the style in vogue: Art Nouveau, marking the beginning of modern architecture and design.
The Austrian architect Josef Hoffman and painter Gustav Klimt, the French architect Hector Guimard all joined the Belgian architects Victor Horta en Paul Hankar, Henry van de Velde, the furniture designer Serrurier-Bovy and the jeweler Philippe Wolfers to get their inspiration or produce themselves for the first time in a more liberal city.

This was a souvenir ship located very close to the Gondola base station in Gulmarg, with the interesting concept that it was built over a path where water would flow in a torrent during rain, as could be seen in this photo. Gulmarg is one of the more famous destinations in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the northernmost state of India. The word Gulmarg means 'meadow of flowers', and during the summer months, Gulmarg really lives up to that name. It is very popular as a hill station, as well as a place which offers ski slopes along with the infrastructure needed for skiing. Gulmarg is not very far from Srinagar, being at a distance of a few hours and 52 kms away from the capital, Srinagar. Gulmarg offers 2 different levels for skiing, with the gondola (the earlier built ski lifts have been abandoned) going to a total height of 3,979 meters and taking the dedicated skiers to a shoulder of the Mt. Afarwat peak. The Gondola also provides a great view of the surrounding areas and is not very expensive. In addition, the slopes can be steep, providing a great experience for those skiers who are looking for a thrilling slope, as well as not being so crowded as the slopers in ski resorts located in western countries.
Some of the attractions in and around Gulmarg includes Tangmarg, the golf course, the Temple (famous for figuring in a Hindi movie song), Alpathar Lake, Baba Reshi Shrine, St. Mary's Church and Khilanmarg.

The Jurong Bird Park is located at some distance from the regular tourists attractions in Singapore, but the park is really worth a visit. There are a large number of birds, but it is not only the birds but the overall green area that is incredible. A path wanders through a path with a lot of beautiful greenery. The Jurong Bird Park is one of the largest such bird parks in the world, setup in the year 1971. It is the largest such park in terms of the number of birds, and occupies an area of around 50 acres. It is located on the slope of Juron Hill and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Singapore. There are a number of shows inside the park that provide people with a chance to get closer to birds (even though they do not get a chance to touch them), and in a exhibit, one can even get a photo taken with colorful birds right next to the person.

In the Chapel of St. Maurice, there are two glass windows of the nineteenth century made by A. Gèrente: "the Childhood of Christ" and "The legend of St. Maurice and of the legion of Theban".
This panel represents the fourth panel of "The legend of St. Maurice and of the legion of Theban".
Maurice was born in 250 A.D. in Thebes, an ancient city in Egypt near the site of the Aswan Dam. He was brought up in the region of Thebes (Luxor—Egypt) and became a soldier in the Roman army. He was gradually promoted until he became the leader of the Theban legion, formed of 6600 soldiers.[4] Maurice was an acknowledged Christian at a time when the Church was considered to be a threat to the crumbling Roman Empire. Yet, he moved easily in the pagan society of his day.[5]
According to the hagiographical material, the legion, entirely composed of Christians, had been called from Thebes in Egypt to Gaul to assist Maximian to defeat a revolt by the bagaudae.[3] The Theban Legion was dispatched with orders to clear the St. Bernard Pass across Mt. Blanc. Before going into battle, they were instructed to offer sacrifices to the pagan gods and pay homage to the emperor.[5]
However, when Maximian ordered them to harass some local Christians, they refused and Maximian ordered the unit to be punished. Every tenth soldier was killed, a military punishment known as decimation. More orders followed, they still refused, partly because of Maurice's encouragement, and a second decimation was ordered. In response to their refusal to use violence against fellow Christians, Maximian ordered all the remaining members of the 6,666 unit to be executed. The place in Switzerland where this occurred, known as Agaunum, is now Saint Maurice-en-Valais, site of the Abbey of Saint Maurice-en-Valais.

This is Birmingham Central Library as seen from Chamberlain Square.
Now that last years beach, Christmas market and Christmas trees are all gone, it is finally back to normal (well until they next put something in the square).
It was built over Paradise Circus and was designed by the John Madin Design Group.
Construction began in 1969 and it opened in 1974.
Structural design by Ove Arup & Partners and the main contractor was Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons. Opened by Harold Wilson in January 1974.
It was designed by John Madin, a Birmingham architect and its inverted ziggurat form is a powerful example of the Brutalist style.
Back to the Chamberlain Square side.
Loads of Central Library signs on a glass window. Near the entrance. If you are wondering what that white L is, it is the slidding door being open.
