My Push from Broken Glass Mosiacs was to take a self-portrait or to take a photo of something in motion with the background blurred or the subject blurred. I think I have now taken a zillion pictures of myself. Glad it's not on film. Usually I am just glad to be behind the camera so I don't have to analyze every wrinkle when I finally see the photo. This time I used the time-honored technique of holding the camera off to the side and clicking. I always look too serious, but the arm out-to-the-side method is awkward. Even forgot to comb my hair this morning. No one noticed. Do I look like a librarian?
If I were to take a photo of something moving - well, I can't take photos of my students without their permission unless they are unrecognizable. Let's just leave it as - the opportunity to take pictures of runners, joggers, and speeding motorcycles is not likely to happen on my road. I did capture a speeding car, but not much of it. The birds were all gone before the camera, or photographer, was ready. This was a hard push since I don't usually think about taking my own picture. Thanks Sheri. §;¬)

These are the trucks that took us for a ride through the sand dunes, passed the jamal (camel) farm straight through the camp in the middle of the desert.
Pretty solid, huh?
In true strobist fashion I set about with my trusty ST-E2 IR flash trigger, 2 580Ex flash guns, a shoot thru umbrella, a silver reflective umbrella and a light stand. Lacking a white backdrop we used a pvc shower curtain held by me dear and long suffering wife. I popped on the 10-22mm canon DX lens onto my Canon 40d and I was ready for action. The shoot thru lit the hand, the reflector his face. A few moments later and the shot was in the cam. As Gordon Ramsey would say, " Governor recruitment image: DONE"

Only in Rochelle for 35 minutes and we are already on train #3. Eastbound coal is toted with two UP engines and an unfortunate victim of mergers as the third unit.
Whenever I've been to Widnes in the past, this was the one building I meant to take a photo of but kept forgetting...it's the old post office in Victoria Square. Compared to the opulent edifices in Liverpool and Birkenhead, this one's quite plain, not to mention much newer too - I'd say it was built in the 1920s.
The day I took this, I took a photo of a Thorn Alpha-4 135w sodium vapour street lighting installation (or street lamp to the layman) in the car park at the back of Albert Road and decided to make the trek down to the bottom of Albert Road to take this shot.
Watch this space because there'll be more shots of former post offices to come.
