So...tomorrow we may see the down side of spring. Severe weather is forecast. It has already been announced that schools will dismiss early. Severe weather is taken very seriously here - we still have very deep scars from the last couple of years.
I have my weather radio, battery operated radio, a couple of weather alert and radar apps on my phone, flashlight, and my knitting.
My knitting? Yup...nothing better to calm my nerves!
Getting nectar drunk. My parents garden, last summer.

Or should I say, "Got Here". Today marks the 10000th view on my stream. It's a milestone for me and I want to thank everyone who has visited my photostream. Flickr is such a nurturing place. It's a great environment for learning, inspiration, and friendship as well. I am greatly humbled and once again, thank you my flickr friends.

GET HERE
You can reach me by railway, you can reach me by trailway
You can reach me on an airplane, you can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don't care how you get here, just - get here if you can
You can reach me by sail boat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down the slope, into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don't care how you get here, just - get here if you can
There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had my way, surely you would be closer
I need you closer
You can windsurf into my life, take me up on a carpet ride
You can make it in a big balloon, but you better make it soon
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don't care how you get here, just - get here if you can
I don't care how you get here, just -- get here if - you can.

When she first told me she is getting married with her best buddy from school, i remained calm, you know kids' talk, it is fun. The 2nd time she told me, i asked a few questions just to know what was in her mind:
Mommy: why do you want to marry him?
Mia: oh, he is a good marcher.
Mommy: why not other boys?
Mia: those boys are just funny. plus, he said so, he told me to marry him, so i will marry him. (see~ girls are soft hearted)
Mommy: okay, you can get married when you are big.
Mia: no, we are getting married right now. can you buy me a WEDDING DRESS (*gasp*) like yours? it is too big for me, i need a smaller one. (what?! she is not just talking but wants to put it in action?)
okay, let me ask you guys, is this normal for 4-year-old kids commit to each other at this young age? HAHAHA! it is fun to hear what they have to say and get suprised by how much they know, isn't it?
26 August 2019, Bra, Italy - Nazarena Lanza Slow Food head of the Office for Africa & Middle East, introduces herself to the beneficiaries of the joint FAO and Slow Food Project at Slow Food headquarters in the city of Bra. Slow Food and the Food and Agrlculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are organizing a study tour this week in northwest Italy for a group of Syrian small-scale women farmers. The two organizations have teamed up to enhance the skills of small-scale women food producers from Syria, all with the aim of supporting crisis-affected communities to regain or boost their livelihoods and reviving the country's agriculture sector. Ten Syrian women will learn from farming communities in Piedmont and Liguria regions that produce and promote local organic and artisan foods marked by high quality and respect for traditions. They are expected to gain knowledge on all aspects of production, marketing and value chains of a range of products - including dairy, honey, oil, cereals, breads and vegetables - and to pass on this knowledge to other women farmers in their communities upon their return. They will also be included in the global Slow Food network of local farmers so that they can continue learning and sharing knowledge and experiences.

Hnefatafl, also known as The Viking Game, The King's Table or simply Tafl, is one of the rare breed of games with two unequal sides. The defending side comprises twelve soldiers and a king, who start the game in a cross formation in the center of the board. Their objective is for the king to escape by reaching any of the four corner squares. The attackers comprise 24 soldiers positioned in four groups of 6 around the perimeter of the board. All pieces move like the Rook in chess and pieces are taken by "sandwiching" i.e. moving your piece so that an opponent's piece is trapped horizontally or vertically between two of yours. There is a host of information on the Internet about Hnefatafl, including many rule variations that are worth experimenting with. The Hnefatafl set published in the UK by History Craft has beautiful imitation ebony and ivory pieces reminiscent of the famous Isle of Lewis chess men and the "board" is printed on woven textile, giving a nice medieval feel to the set.
A copy of the game was published in issue #128 of Dragon magazine, Dec 1987 (later republished as part of a boxed set: "The Best of Dragon Games" in 1990).
One of the oldest games in the world - traced in various versions to the Vikings, Welsh, Saxons, and Irish. The origins of this game can be traced through Latrunculorum, played by the Romans, to the even older versions played by the Ancient Greeks and Egyptians.
From Chicagoist:
It’s been a quiet month since we last heard an update about Roger Ebert, the Chicago Sun-Times film critic and co-host of “Ebert and Roeper.” Back then, we posted some suggestions for putting out some good vibes to speed along the man’s recovery. But the best suggestion came from one of our commenters, FernLaPlante:
“I think we should all take Polaroids of ourselves flashing the Thumbs Up sign and mail them to Ebert and/or ABC-7. Sort of a Get Well/We Miss You thing.”
We promptly decided to steal this brilliant idea and make it our own.
We created a Flickr set called Get Well Roger and uploaded some pictures of the charming yet goofy Chicagoist writers throwing out the “thumbs up” sign to Rog. But it’s not enough! So get out your digital camera or your cell phone and snap a picture of yourself flashing the “thumbs up” sign then add it to our Get Well Roger photo group (click on the Join This Group? link in the lower right then select Add To Group on your uploaded picture). When we get enough pictures, we’ll send them on to Ebert to let him know we’re all thinking about him.
For our money, Ebert is the top dog of movie critics and quintessentially Chicago. So the least we can do is show we’re pulling for him.
So get those thumbs in the air and cameras flashing, people! Upload ‘em to Flickr and add ‘em to the Get Well Roger group, pronto.
And keep trying to destroy all those copies of North. It’s the right thing to do.

Most of today was spent editing on a few projects I shot this week, so I didn't get out to shoot again. Since I still need to practice and learn more about the new gear I got this month, I thought I'd try some shots around the new lens's minimum focusing distance and wider apertures (bokehlicious!). Experimenting with new gear, of course, means photographing the cats some more, so we get a closeup portrait of Victor today.
On most days they don't get along. But every now and then, they act like they do.
Naiara: Smile!
Miró: I'm smiling! I'm smiling! *grumbles*
Toralei looked so cute with all that foam in her hair.
In the few minutes it took to get the camera ready, the foam was mostly gone.
Lesson learned: Sometimes even in doll photography you have to be faster. :-)
Ava and Honey pose for holiday portraits!
Disclaimer: Who knew it was so hard to find a 15 inch white tree at this late date?
So Michael's and I had a date at 10 AM today! Even though I was there on Friday. A white boa, glitter and felt, later ...
Already made next years Holiday list! The little mantle trees I made last year.
Come on, and get me out!

Getting old is such a hilarious thing to happen to you. You get up in the morning and you look in the mirror and you bust out laughing, you just can't believe it happened to you. The more you look the more you see one of your parents looking back at you, usually the one that you didn't like, or the least attractive one. P.S. I don't have a bald spot on my head, it just looks that way in the picture because my hair is so white and I had a lamp hanging right over my head illuminating all imperfections, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
(maniacal laughter)
