Heading west on 190 we traversed Panamint Valley, below, climbed our way across the near mountains, and then hugged the Sierra Nevada southward.
In the distance is Panamint Springs, now a park village, Father Crowley Point, and Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower 48. Roll your mouse over the image to see them noted.
Mos, 34 - Sydney, Australia. Self portrait. For me, the "get your gear out" was a call to get away from my usual haunts and try a new location. I also wanted to highlight that gear doesn't make the shot- by showing how silly it looks when you try and juxtapose it into a scene. Ironically, it turned into quite a fun shoot - hanging lenses, speed lights and modifiers from branches with twine. Originally I wanted to showcase the deep greens of the moss against the wintery trees in the Blue Mountains. Yet the colors - while beautiful - were a distracting from the subjects, so I converted to monochrome. Shot on a D700, 50mm 1.8. Comments appreciated
Students find many ways to get outside and enjoy the weather as campus is brought to life by budding trees and flowers
While camped up over the weekend I have been trying to catch a few ants. The little buggers run so fast, especial when they see this large creature coming in close. After getting lots of nothing, I ended up resorting to special tactics, a drop of honey, to catch my prey. lol ;o)))
7DOS Crossing Macro Monday
Crossings: anything crossed over something different. For example, a bridge over a river, a tree branch over a footpath, a pen across a piece of paper. Both things should be shown in the photo. - Just love the shadow crossing the leaf in this shot
@Lake Wainamu.
Getting ready for sand surfing. She didn't know I was photographing her.
This is my favourite shot :)
After not getting any E400 photos for half an hour or-so, I then got this one of 19307 heading inbound on route 16 and looking pretty empty.

my challenge is from Shawn (aka Kuffaar)
My choice of three options.
1. stars is its pitch black where i live, or the milky way.
2.Self portrait aka selfie
3.stranger portrait with some background info.
So as you can see I chose selfie, its the first time I've done this and I actually had fun doing it. this was taken in a covered bridge in Marysville, Ohio. Thanks Shawn for the challenge, I thought it turned out pretty well, I have one more in my photostream and I also took a strangers photo that i posted there also, but I liked this one better.
Just wanna share:
Been debating for sometime should I go get a battery grip or not. I have small hands and I was afraid that adding a grip will make it difficult for me to hold the camera.
Last week I came across this item at Ebay called Phottix BP-D300 battery grip for $100 shipped with extra battery. After reading some reviews I decided to order one.
I looks and functions almost exactly like the MB-D10. The difference lies only to the BP-D300's plastic construction compared to the MB-D10's magnesium.
Now the BP-D300 took out my grip worries without paying almost $300 for the original one. I'll just wait for this battery grip to die out on me before buying the real McCoy.
Oh, and it also works for the D700 as well. For the price, you can't go wrong with this baby specially when you're on a tight budget.
