This little Wren is now a constant visitor to my garden and as he gets more used to my presence I'm now able to get quite close. Here he actually stayed still for a brief moment after coming down for a drink.

Although the photo below is not as close I still like it for its composition...peeking through the Autumn leaves at it as I was.

I've also uploaded a Blue Tit image today : )

Haven't done any in this style for a long time.

Jordan has a pleasant surprise for you waiting around every corner - stylish chic & cool Amman, the best preserved Roman city (Jerash) with a gladiator show, Islamic hedonism in desert citadels, floating on the Dead sea caked in black mud followed by champagne breakfast, crazy mosaics, huge crusader castles, the dramatic reveal of the Treasury in candlelight @ Petra by night and/but the mesmerizing mysterious Monastery around the mountain peak being the true highlight of Petra ... As they say, if you like what you see, look a little further and you might get more!

Shannen & Courtney are getting ready to go out . They have just finished a photo shooting for a famous brand of doll clothing.

S: Courtney, don't tell me you're still wearing only your underwear! You're too slow for being a model!

(they both laugh)

C: What time is it now?

S: Time to hurry up!

C: Seriously are we already too late for dinner? I'm hungry!!

S: What did Barbie say? She knows you're always late, so they're waiting for us now.

C: Ok...

S: By the way, who else is coming for dinner tonight?

C: Mmm... I think just the other girls, Ken and Ryan.

S: Who's Ryan?

There were 4 options here for Veyron:

1. Jump down to the freeway (50ft fall and he would have died).

2. Try to run fast and pass us (we were ready to intercept him with our gentle snares).

3. Attack us and get away (Lisa was ready to climb up the fence in case that was happening).

4. Surrender.

This is my last iceberg for now! This was one of the first ones we saw after arriving in Newfoundland. The 2 in the comment box show the same one obscured by heavy fog. 2 days later, after the fog cleared, we were able to see this iceberg clearly. It was farther away and looking much smaller. This was an exceptional year for icebergs because of the harsh winter. Normally, they would be gone by the end of June so we were very fortunate to see many as we travelled around the island. I was mesmerized by each one I saw. Taken in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Many thanks for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.

Bench 'out of use' sign at the very quiet Halesworth railway station, Suffolk. In fact none of the benches were to be 'used' even though hardly any passengers transit through here.

It's getting colder and colder here with some snow predicted by the weekend. I'm just not ready for Old Man Winter!

I've always thought that this perspective, makes all of nyc look like a graveyard...taken from the BQE. This is one HUGE cemetery - you just can't hold your breath while passing by the whole thing (I tried).

Getting closer to a good image, camera settings figured out for the most part. Now I need to work on setting up a good composition.

Oh I should probably mention how I took this. Set exposure manually, to about 1 1/2 to 2 stops underexposed. Then I used High Speed Flash Sync mode, flash set manually at about 1/16 power. I used the Better Beamer, but this photo is a little "flashy" for my taste, so next time I will try diffusing the light from the flash for more saturated colors and natural look.

LA had a good sunset last weekend. I went out to Santa Monica beach. I very much enjoyed the sunset. Why not getting wet? It was so much fun :D

Dystopic street scene in the Birmingham riots, UK.

Police try to regain order after a police-baton charge. The only lens I had on me was a Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 wide-angle, so I had to get pretty close for it to be worth it.

Being used to doing street photography where the challenge is to make prosaic and everyday scenes look unusual or interesting, it was quite a change to have that job done for me; hundreds of looters and riot police covered the urban landscape. Keeping close to a cameraman from Reuters News Agency the task became one of documentation. In front of the police lines where the looters had gathered I was asked several times “Who do you work for” and “Don’t take fucking pictures”.

Peg and I visited "Top Of the Rock" to get our NYC skyline views. Here's looking north over Central Park and south towards the Empire State Building.

Definitely worth a stop for the amazing views!

Spring has arrived, and as the Virginia Beach Police Mounted Patrol team prepares for the summer season, they're making sure their horses are ready too! The team's expert farriers are hard at work getting the horses fitted with brand new shoes, while their skilled veterinarians ensure that their vaccines are up-to-date. Beyond their excellent care, the horses also receive extensive exercise and training to prepare them for the summer season.

When the summer season kicks off, you can find the Virginia Beach Mounted Patrol team patrolling the Oceanfront, keeping visitors and residents safe while also interacting with the community. As one of the few departments with an active and robust mounted patrol, the horses play an important role in building bridges and starting conversations that make our city stronger.

These working horses are more than just animals - they're valuable members of our police department and community. With their new kicks and expert care, they're ready to take on whatever the summer season brings.

Go away Winter, I am ready for Spring! I was looking back through some of my West Virginia Waterfall images from last April to get in the mood for Spring, and thought I would share this one with you! Cathedral Falls is one of the prettiest in West Virginia. It makes a great first stop in the New River Gorge because it is a great indicator of water levels in the gorge. When I came to this same fall last autumn, it would have taken a few seconds to fill a milk jug the water was so low. With high water, this one is gorgeous! One of the best parts about this fall is that it is located in a round "cathedral."

I imagine that being a journalistic photographer would be similar to a wedding photographer in that when you show up at a scene, people expect you to take pictures. You get access that others don't - like this fellow, who is about to walk past security with impunity.

Winter is here and the lakes and ponds are freezing over. It is time to get the skates out for the winter activities. This one is empty right now but it shouldn't be long until a hockey games breaks out.
