Traveling for our postponed and overdue vacation last week. Plenty of captures to share incoming, including this set of frisky trucks outside our hotel stop along the way.

One of the triplets. I did get to see a glimpse of all 3 at the same time but they are just like kids and weren't all looking at the same time for the picture. Lots of wing stretching happening, wouldn't be surprised if they get out soon and test them out.

It's been a while since I've been to the Lake District, I keep managing to find a photo from my last hike there.. but photo's are running short... I need another visit :-)

My coat, still in the January mirror.

My heart, tense and vicious. One word and life is being tossed in my ventricular system wandering far from commitments and courtrooms, always distracted by that intriguing, mysterious light over there. What is it?

It looks like a new kind of hunger.

I’m sorry to leave this important convo, but i need to know.

A new beginning is nearly here.

“Like the legend of the Phoenix

All ends with beginnings

What keeps the planets spinning (uh)

The force from the beginning

We've come too far to give up who we are

So let's raise the bar and our cups to the stars

She's up all night to the sun

I'm up all night to get some

She's up all night for good fun

I'm up all night to get lucky”

Free, and open to my dreams.

Dear 2024,

Thank you for showing me that I can set and maintain boundaries; thank you for validating my trust in my intuition; and thank you for reminding me that I should expect no one but myself to put me first, never again compromising myself for anyone.

I am looking forward to starting this new year out fresh. I have more goals than I can possibly accomplish, so there is plenty to keep me busy. I hate New Year's Resolutions, so I started them a few weeks early. Not everyday is going to be easy with big gains, but everyday is a step forward. Nothing is getting in the way of my future. Hello 2025.

xoxo,

Me

Not as fluffy as the cardinal I caught a few days ago, but fluffy enough to look a bit blurry and rounder. And maybe younger, too.

It's really hot, and I've several birds with their mouths open, like panting. I wonder if fluffing can be a cooling mechanism also.

Last little bit of preening, still a few unattached males around, so you have got to look your pretty best..and I ain't missing any teeth

It must have been a chilly June morning (about 6 AM) when this image was taken as the beautiful female mountain bluebird has puffed up some of her feathers.

These special birds will be back in about 7 or 8 weeks. Given the cold and snow in Alberta at the moment, it seems like a pipedream. However, there is lots of time for the sun to warm things up as the days get longer.

The light house is wrapped in plastic this last past week. Getting work done inside and out from a company down state.

Don't come across this breed too often unless you're at a show. Beautiful Pharaoh Hound pup.

The heated birdbath is a must in the winter time. We have been getting 100's at a time of Cowbirds like this female coming to the feeders and then to the bath for a drink. It was in the 40's so I went out on the deck with Bandit for a while. Lots of kisses from my happy boy. My backyard. Central Bucks, PA.

Dear Hans,

Hope you are on track for a speedy recovery. We are all rooting for you.

Used the 90mm prime to get a little closer to the Swan St Bridge. It was easier than walking!

The hierarchy of deer feeding. It is so interesting to watch who gets to eat and how some deer try to sneak in for a bite to eat

Work does not cease at the Oskova washery of RMU Banovici, and photographic opportunities continue to present themselves, but the lure of the warm hotel with food and drink just 10 minutes drive away, deep in the the adjoining forest, was a necessity to prise one away from this most incredible steam-worked industrial operation well into the 21st century. During the evening of 24th February 2015, this standard post-war Yugoslavian industrial 760mm gauge 0-6-0 tank locomotive No.25-30 built in 1949, while attempting to get its rake of partly discharged hopper wagons on the move again through the tipping dock to allow further wagons to be manually discharged, unexpectedly slipped violently and in the process deposited some the contents of its firebox into the night sky and onto the track. It had been a particularly busy two days at the washery, with demand for coal being high. With this frame 'in the can' just before 8.00pm, it was certainly time to finally call it a day and grab a nice cool beer.

Is it me or does little guy not appear to be hanging on very tightly?

SOOC on my nightly walk with you know who. She is a great decoy as the birds turn their heads for the camera!

For Macro Mondays theme 'Gift'. The gift here is not the snail, but my precious microscope. It was given to me by my grandparents when I was a young child - they had had a veterinary student lodger renting a small flat above their garage who suddenly vacated the flat when the rent was due, leaving behind a number of possessions that presumably were too difficult to carry easily. One of things left behind was this microscope, clearly a quality and valuable instrument so it is curious that it would be left behind. Recognising my interest in the natural sciences, my grandparents gave me his microscope, that came with slides and eyepieces - it was a excellent source of discovery that lasted all through my school days until I went off to university. I still have the microscope, but it doesn't get taken out of its case very often any more - although I did have fun photographing it for a photography course, see the first comment box. The 4X is the magnification power of one of the objective lenses, it is 1.8cm in diameter.

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.

Waiting for sunrise this morning down at Islandhill. I was slowly sinking into the mud just to get this shot...but the colours were great :)

Razorbill - Mingan Archipelago

On a quick trip to check out some photo spots on the Montana Rail Link we followed a coal train up Bozeman pass to Muir. We figured we would scout a spot to get the helper set running back light.

That didn't happen.

As we turned the corner on Bozeman Hill Road our eyes got big...real big! A pair of eastbound trains with older EMD power were waiting to top the grade.

What luck.

What fun.

What a day.

Getting close to the end of my weekend trip photos now, so here's another for the cottage garden of the lovely camellias growing there!

Every time I break night, I get twisted in the morning.
